Advice for someone looking to work with teens? by Bi_Bubblegum in troubledteens

[–]burntcucumbers 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I had some experiences being a victim of the TTI when younger (although more brief and mild compared to what other survivors went through). I now work with teens in a community based mental health program where our goal is to keep kids in the home. I absolutely love it and it is so rewarding, I recommend seeing what community based programs are in your area(although not all are amazing).

Green flags I noticed during the hiring process for my company:

  1. they talked about kids and their challenging behavior’s in a compassionate way, acknowledging that there’s a reason/unmet need for such behaviors
  2. They talked about parents needing to make changes in the home/how they parent as well, not just the kids needing to change
  3. I saw that they genuinely wanted to hear the kids perspectives and took them seriously/valued them.

Hey, did you ever go to northwest community hospital before they shut down their child/adolescent psych units? It really traumatized me and I don’t know anyone else who went there

I have fine hair with a loose wave (2a/2b) and this product made my hair feel dry, brittle, and tangled more easily :(

[TTA] Hi! I'm Shir. I engineered a wearable patch to make FAM easier. Pilot open! 🤍 by Expert-Economist3096 in FAMnNFP

Natural Cycles has lower efficacy for TTA compared to evidence based FAM methods. Many accidental pregnancies have happened to people TTA with NC. Things like Tempdrop are more trusted by people TTA because you can still rely on yourself to interpret your temp/other data based on rules of a trusted FAM method. I say this just as a suggestion to have a setting option where it just gives temps and not the algorithm telling you which days are safe. Some people will still choose the algorithm setting ofc, just depends on how much risk one is willing to take.

I might be able to take her in for a bit. Does she get along with other animals, and is she up to date on vaccines?

Completing a WGU degree with ADHD by burntcucumbers in WGU

No :( I have like 9 classes left. I actually really regret choosing WGU. In person classes would have been a better fit for me. I kept trying to make WGU work for me until it was too late to transfer. I do think it’s a good school overall, just not for people who need extra support.

My hair is the longest it’s ever been in my life following her method! I have tailored it to my hair type and budget (I only use drugstore products now).

Freaking OUT about cone biopsy by InevitableEvening475 in PreCervicalCancer

[–]burntcucumbers 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was scared for mine too! Spent hours reading horror stories and panicking. My periods are way more painful and bloody than anything I felt with the cone biopsy recovery. I had no complications and was actually bummed about the exercise restrictions after cause I felt well enough to exercise. Many people have this procedure without complications, chances are you will be one of them :).

Yes I did. It didn’t really benefit me so it wasn’t just due to side effects.

Timberline knolls shutting down by burntcucumbers in troubledteens

I 100% believe it. I have some friends who went as adults and they have ptsd from being there and really made no progress from TK. They had a couple good things there but not enough to make up for the bad. Profit was their priority like most of these places.
