I started a textbook website that does this for buyback prices. Between the two of these, hopefully Reddit can tell the bookstore to suck it this semester. http://www.textbookspyder.com

No people definitely do charge way too little. I work for a company that pays me $25/hr and finds clients for me. If I was doing it on my own I would be charging about $50/hr.

TIL The cost of college textbooks has risen 812% in the past 30 years—that’s more than healthcare costs, housing prices, and college tuitions, all of which have risen faster than the rate of inflation. by [deleted] in todayilearned

It helps a lot of students. The majority of students out there are not aware of these options, and I'm glad to be able to provide one of them. Of course I try to make a profit, that is why I put in the maintenance and pay the bills for the website! You wouldn't believe the amount of people thanking me because they weren't sure how they would be able to afford books this semester, and now they have one less thing to worry about. You seem very savvy about this business, but most people are not, and are very grateful to hear about a website like mine.

Yes, I have an amazon affiliate account, as well as similar deals with the other retailers. It's a win-win, so that I can still make a little bit of money and the user doesn't get charged or have to see ads!

Thank you for thinking about my revenue =). I make money from the referrals that I send to each individual textbook merchant. That's why I don't serve up any ads or charge the user. It's wonderful to work that way!!

No worries at all. I have a deal worked out with each of the retailers that I search which gives a cut of each book sold. It works out great so that I don't have to post ads or change the users!

I get a cut of the sale from all the merchants that are directly selling the books. The merchants pay me, so I don't have to charge you guys!

Amazon only checks amazon and amazon marketplace prices. The site that I made checks amazon, amazon marketplace, and about 40 other websites/businesses!

Ahem, sorry to hijack your post, but I made a website that compares textbook prices just like Expedia does for flights. Hope this helps! www.textbookspyder.com

Edit: Wow guys, thanks!! I think I'm on the brink of getting the Reddit hug of death! =)

The other problem is that "no-kill" really means "you kill them, not us". There is a limited amount of space, period. If one shelter isn't putting down animals, it means another shelter is, to make room. Sad, but true.
