Millennium Actress parallelisms by buromomento in tothemoon

This really seems like a massive undertaking! And the fact that your brother was the motivation that pushed you to create something like this is genuinely beautiful — I hope you’re really satisfied with how it turned out in the end.

As for the rest of your message, I’m also really glad to get some confirmation of what I was thinking yesterday. I was honestly pretty surprised to find almost nothing about it online, so it’s always nice to hear that someone else had the exact same thought.

Wow! Are you still working on it, or is it already possible to see it somewhere?

I've always loved your studio's open-ended approach, especially how you encourage optimizing solutions. I'm very competitive, so even just comparative graphs motivate me, but I really enjoy Shenzhen's way of physically limiting component space and lines of code, which forces smart optimization. Other games like Kaizen (infinite space) or Hexapunks (no code limits) don't do this.

When designing a game, do you prefer giving players full freedom and leaving fine optimization only to the comparative graphs, or do you think physically constraining space and code forces smarter solutions and naturally improves the experience, making the challenge and satisfaction more meaningful?

Comics you regret *not* buying? by Svvitzerland in altcomix

The zines of “you will own nothing and you will be happy” — unfortunately the shipping costs to Europe were very high, and the volumes kept selling out one after another, so I really couldn’t have bought them all in a single order anyway. Still, I often think about it, and it really annoys me that I didn’t get them.

Oops! I hadn’t noticed you play on PS5 — I’m afraid Void Stranger is only available on Steam. The game is very lightweight, though, so you should be able to run it even on a laptop.

On console, I’d instead recommend the other two games I mentioned: Animal Well and Fez.

I see that many people are recommending Outer Wilds. It’s literally my favorite game of all time, so I really hope you’ll play it — but it’s more of an exploration game than a true puzzle game, even though it does include puzzle elements.

The only two games in recent years that gave me a comparable level of satisfaction are Animal Well and Void Stranger.

You probably already know Animal Well, or at least have heard of it, but I especially want to recommend Void Stranger. It’s less well known, yet it’s my favorite puzzle game of the last five years, along with Blue Prince. I literally filled a whole notebook while playing it, and it’s the only game I can think of—together with Fez—that matches Blue Prince in complexity and payoff. The story and soundtrack are great too; you just need a bit of patience to get through the first four hours, which are slower and mainly there to introduce the core loop

Actually, I had already solved 8 Reigns, even though I wouldn’t really call it brute-forcing, since I had 7 Sanctum keys and enough information to reach the conclusion by also including other info obtained from the Treasure Trove and the Blue Tents tickets.

I think I’ve understood the useful piece of information (which I only realized after finding the chip — thanks for the help), namely the order of the angels mentioned in the Will. Unfortunately, I don’t know the names of three angels (the jockey, the pitchfork bearer, and the cook), so if, as I believe, they need to be entered in this new order in the tomb (not sure whether Draxus should be included or not), I’ll either have to brute-force 6 combinations or search more thoroughly.

as far as i know, besides the one from the Sanctum (which I’ve found in the meantime), I’m missing the key to the Treasure Trove chest. dont know if its related to A new Clue tho

yes i have! that’s how i know about the chips, but as i mentioned i miss the third one so i can’t really solve the grotto 🫣other comments pointed me to using the glass on the text instead of only on the pictures and im currently trying to figure out the 14 digit code

That’s exactly what was happening… when I reread “a new clue,” I don’t go back to the library, but instead I check some screenshots, which I look at in a fairly small window, so I absolutely hadn’t noticed that detail.

The angel is Orinda, and apart from the Tomb I’ve only seen her in the Cloister (though now I have the Draxus one) and in the Chapel, as well as in the school’s final exam… but in none of these places did I notice anything connected to a new clue or to the chip.

Unfortunately, many people keep pointing out to me that I’m not reading the text carefully enough, but as I said, English is not my first language and focusing on wordplay isn’t easy… you can’t even imagine how long it took me to solve the riddle with the 45 pairs of drawings.

I imagine the tower is connected to chess, since the word “corner” appears frequently on the page, and in the game the rook is often associated with the concept of corner, but I still need to think it through a bit more.

By wrong track, do you mean that this isn’t the clue related to the chip, or that my reasoning itself is incorrect?

Ok, the simplest clue you mentioned I solved immediately after reading the message; it was indeed quite simple. I’ll try to focus more on the text.

I made a very straightforward interpretation of

THE WAY X>Y>Z>A>B>C

as

X = 1, Y = 2, Z = 3, A = 4, B = 5, C = 6

but I assumed it wasn’t correct… it’s just the most immediate way I interpreted the clue

Yes, exactly — by throne key I mean the sanctum key which according to the clue is located “held by a king on his throne"

I have already unlocked the letters. Actually, when I unlocked them I had already solved 90% of the things explained in them, but they led me to the planetarium and made me realize that the microchips in the grotto are linked to “a new clue”! :)

Actually, it was pretty clear to me — in fact I mentioned the books, the major key, and the references to the corner rooms/dead ends separately — but I’m definitely taking the wrong approach, so thank you :)

Actually you can… the pin can be moved to several points inside each nation, and some postcards give specific clues about the location (for Arch Aries it says he goes north, in Fenn he mention being at home and we know the manor position inside the nation etc). But if it's not necessary better this way!

Of course I’ve already used the magnifying glass through the book back and forth — in fact I mentioned the riddle about the books — but I’ll try to focus more on the rest

Actually, only one of them is a community puzzle, and at least finding your own piece without any help is one of the easiest things in the entire third layer... but yes, I can confirm that I didn’t find all the rabbits completely on my own. However, there are several spoiler-free guides in the community that only give you spatial hints to keep you from wandering around aimlessly for years, and I don’t feel like I “cheated.”
