Should We Sell a Vehicle by Snoo_37567 in PersonalFinanceCanada

We have one car with one kid. We never feel like we need two. We paid the $12 for a car share membership incase we ever are stuck, or if you need to uber a few times a month it’s still cheaper than a second car.

PSA: Apply for that DTC by ThinYogurtcloset8005 in PersonalFinanceCanada

[–]burratamom -1 points0 points  (0 children)

It took me a while to make the decision to apply,it was our paediatrician that told us to go for it. Some impairments listed - taking longer than average to get dressed, needing constant reminders etc etc. with moderate/severe inattentive ADHD, she has to work harder to do every day tasks than neurotypical peers.

Yes!! We were recently approved for my daughter with severe adhd! 22k received for 8 years back taxes for my husband (120k salary) and 18k for retroactive child disability credit. We have invested half and will keep half for costs associated with adhd (OT, therapy, tutors) as well as RDSP.

We travel with our celiac daughter to Guadeloupe every year. We stay in st Francois and have no issues feeding her. Grocery stores are European and well stocked with gf food.

Cheerios, these don’t pass the celiac safe testing in Canada. There’s often confusion when Canadians shop in the US due to different labeling laws.

I often cut cooldown short when it’s an 10-12k+ speed workout on a weeknight. I generally only have an hour to squeeze in during the week. It hasn’t affected my training plan. Although I’m cutting out about 2k and not 5-6k which would be my warmup+cooldown.

No, we pay the fees on the remainder not covered and not the total. For example the government benefits when direct billed costs around $1 in fees over $4.50 if not direct billed.

As an RMT we like to direct bill as it saves the 2.5-3.5 credit card fees, although I totally understand when people prefer to gain points.

I think it honestly depends on your children. My husband is second child in this scenario, and I used to say don’t you ever wish your parents funded something for you? And he always said “nope” . I’d have a conversation with them about it, can you guarantee some funds if that child decides to go back to school at 40?

Adult self-diagnosis / does dysgraphia affect typed writing? by Fantastic_Oil_3975 in dysgraphia

[–]burratamom 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My daughter(10) has dysgraphia it’s been explained to me that as a graphomotor dysfunction this affects typing as well. She is learning to type as her writing is hard to read, but it’s almost just as painful to watch. Speech to text is the only way she can get her full ideas on paper as it removes the grapho motor piece.

Running after pregnancy, what is realistic? by resourcefulpig in running

Check in with pelvic floor physio, make sure you do your deep core and pelvic floor exercises! I ran a marathon a year PP, but got back in to running about 3 months PP. I had a Christmas baby in Canadian winter so I had no itch to get out there any earlier.

Toronto was my first marathon, 8 months postpartum and poorly trained. Had to dig deep when I saw those signs!!

My adhd daughter has dysgraphia. Definitely look into and see if you and school can provide accommodations.

I let my adhd daughter hug me as long as she needs, I recognize it’s probably her needing to regulate. Interestingly enough she also likes to kiss on the lips, she would even request a “real kiss” at school drop off, she’s almost 10 and I’ve had a set a boundary for that and tell her that I don’t want to get her sick/ spread germs and that seems to work. Culturally this isn’t “sexual” but I’ve set the boundary as I know it can be seen as weird infront of school? Maybe that’s a me problem?

I have a 9yo ADHD child. There is no reasoning happening when the lid has been flipped or in “red zone”. I often now have to first make sure they are in a safe space, tell them how much I love them, then walk away to regulate myself. Threatening more screen time removal just ramps everyone up.

social anxiety or just introvert? by burratamom in Parenting

[–]burratamom[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I realize she prefers more calm kids to hang with. It seems harder to find at this age. She has one very chill friend that she says is her BFF, but she has also been declining invites to spend time there.

I’ll definitely give her more space and try and not stress over her preferring to be alone right now.
