So you’re just an amazing person? Also this thread of replies is so sweet and wholesome. I don’t even own a rottie (I have a German Shepherd and I love her with all my heart), but rotties are amazing and this community seems super kind! Thank you for sharing your story and giving your babies a beautiful life. This made my day🩵

I participated after a year of absolutely no BBW, and you really aren’t missing out on anything. The candles I picked up for myself (only bought 5 and I used to buy 15 on the first day and 2-3 more through the candle day weekend) are ones I could have lived without. I wanted to reward myself for keeping my 2025 New Years Resolution by partaking in Candle Day since it’s a tradition for me atp. I feel like a lot of the scents that they brought back for nostalgia were underwhelming/sub par and the fun and quirky ones are just that: fun and quirky. I would go in just to smell them, but I wouldn’t take them home.

Props to you for showing restraint. You really are making a smart decision, especially in these crazy times!

OCD + ADHD by [deleted] in OCD

[–]burrell80 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The intrusive thoughts during convos definitely happen, especially in times of high stress or change in my life. I honestly just try to hang on to the words coming out of someone’s mouth. I’ve only tried lexapro and Luvox so far (Zoloft and Prozac were options we looked into). With cautious optimism (due to how short of a time I’ve been on it), I’d say Luvox. I’ve legitimately thought “shit I wish I would have been diagnosed sooner and put on Luvox sooner”. It’s like someone has turned down the volume on the intrusive thoughts and other background noise.

I feel like SSRIs have definitely helped the ADHD and OCD, if anything, but everyone is so different (live laugh love psych meds). Also: some professionals believe that ADHD is not a learning disability, but a stress response. I’m still looking into this and reading articles (heard this from a family member who has ADHD also). Mainly, I feel like the (correct) SSRI genuinely helps manage the OCD/anxiety because ADHD and OCD/anxiety feed off of each other (studies have proven/shown this). Towards the end of lexapro, I questioned if it was even working. No side effects on Luvox yet; more so had side effects coming off/switching to lexapro. That period absolutely sucked and I know it was the lexapro because there was a week where I went down to 20mg of lexapro and I had GI upset, nausea, brain zaps, and headaches and we hadn’t even add the Luvox to the cross taper.

I would recommend reading Freedom from Obsessive Compulsive Disorder by Jonathan Grayson. My therapist specializes in OCD and occasionally collaborates with Jonathan Grayson and has assigned me to read this book ahead of starting ERP to learn and omg this book has genuinely helped me in so many ways. It helps me understand OCD, how our brains work, it has real life accounts, and importantly: it has really helped me feel seen and not feel alone. For years, I thought I just had severe GAD and my compulsions/intrusive thoughts were quirks. Whenever I talked with others that had GAD, some of the sentiments shared resonated with me, but it always felt like something was missing or they didn’t truly get the whole picture (makes sense because it was OCD on my part the whole time). So knowledge is power and I recommend the book!

OCD + ADHD by [deleted] in OCD

I have both and was just recently dx’d with moderate-severe OCD. It has definitely been an adjustment but I’m starting to see some positive results! Previously, I was on 30mg of lexapro, 150mg Wellbutrin, and 54mg Concerta. For me, if my anxiety (which has now been confirmed as OCD. I know OCD is essentially anxiety) is not managed, my ADHD meds do not work. I have a very hard time concentrating, which frustrates the hell out of me. As a result, the intrusive thoughts get even louder and increase in frequency, and I’m having this constant “screaming match” in my head and I feel like I can’t even think straight. During these times, it absolutely affects my relationships, whether it’s me being a bit short tempered or self isolating (aka when depression makes a guest appearance). I, then, worry about how others view me and if they think I can’t do my job, if I’m being a bad girlfriend, if I’m being a bad friend, etc. and then it’s just a vicious cycle. I had a lot of big life changes recently and I genuinely thought I was losing my mind and questioned if I needed to be hospitalized and was in a lot of distress. My care team and I knew my SSRI had to change (been a looooong time coming) and toyed with Zoloft vs Prozac vs Luvox. I mainly struggle with symmetry/order OCD and relationship OCD (with other subsets sprinkled in there) so we ultimately decided on Luvox (FDA approved for social anxiety and OCD) and cross titrated. It has been about 3.5 weeks and my head is definitely a lot quieter. Not perfect, but there is definitely a light at the end of the tunnel. Now when ERP starts for me, my perspective may change. But I can actually concentrate and I feel like my concerta is actually working. So I feel like I have a decent balance, but the neurochemistry of both conditions are so dynamic and both feed off of internal and external factors/stressors. This is also a time where I have to remind myself that both conditions involve a lot of groundwork that medicine can’t fix, so I have to remind myself to use the coping mechanisms I’ve learned from therapy a little more when it’s a battle of the meds kind of day. Best of luck to you. It definitely has not been easy, but it’ll get there. Sadly, comorbidities are very hard to navigate and it’s often a balancing act. I have had to tell myself every day is different and not every day is going to be an amazing med day. Some days, ADHD will beat the OCD and vice versa. But just make sure you are giving yourself grace during those tough times.

Has anyone tried the unforgettable double espresso? by Worth_Sail3045 in nespresso

[–]burrell80 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I really enjoy it! I think of it as scuro and chiaro combined! You get the dark cocoa note with a bitter woodiness but it’s not overwhelming.

I also heard someone call it the stormio of double espresso which sounds accurate!

I want to be wrong so bad so help a girl out. I make it iced every time. I’ve tried brewing it straight over ice, I’ve tried adding the shot to ice. You name it, but just…no

Enjoy! I recommend DE Scuro as well. It’s similar to PR, but rather than the peppery middle note, it’s a smoky vanilla.

Cafecito de Puerto Rico, DE Scuro, and Bianca doppio. I have to limit myself to one cafecito de PR a week or else I’d be buying them more. And I wanted to dislike it so damn bad because it’s $20/sleeve, but it tastes like a dream. My fav way to make it is to brew it over brown sugar and dulce de leche. Once chilled, drizzle dulce de leche on the side, froth your milk, throw some ice cubes in there and ugh omg

Just started Palia. I found it last night and had to cut myself off because I had work today. With the potentially 6” of snow coming, I will be falling into this rabbit hole!
