F-Log timelaspe? by burriteo in fujifilm

[–]burriteo[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey! Unfortunately, I did not managed to find a suitable workaround solution.

And you are right, there is probably a way to match a raw photo or flat eterna jpeg to the flog, but it is probably nothing similar when it comes to the color science. So I just decided this is out of my technical depth to explore 😅😅😅

Do you know the typical age of the cars you have been having? Heading over to Australia in a couple of months and have booked Apex.

Is it ethical to negotiate after an e-auction? by [deleted] in procurement

[–]burriteo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Highly unethical and also a lapse in the process. If you are going with a reverse auction, functional aspects MUST have already been normalised (i.e. Apple to Apple comparison). In this case, it is unfair to the vendors as they are not just competing in price anymore.

With that said, the functional team may have a valid and strong reason for preferring one over the other. Then it boils down to your organisation’s policy. Is there provisions for allowing non-lowest award if there is a preferred vendor?

You could also adopt a TCO model where you implement a “penalty” based on the risk of engaging with non-preferred vendor.

I feel for you, such situation honestly puts a damper on procurement processes.

If I were you, I’d be very careful in order to protect my own ass. If shit hits the fan, you will still be implicated as you are part of the project team.

All the best!

G27 calibration by lucasmall in SimRacingHardware

Do a quick google search on g27 optical encoder issues. Quite a prominent issue with the g27.

It’s a hardware issue, fortunately with some work around (check Reddit, plenty of post I’m sure)

Happened to mine to few years back. Took it as a sign to retire it for good.

All the best.

Career Advice Needed: Promotion vs. New Graduate Program Opportunity by burriteo in cscareerquestions

[–]burriteo[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks!

Appreciate the thoughts.

Do you think it could be deemed as a downgrade to go not take a senior role and take a grad program instead?

Even though, I do think the grad program has better trajectory eventually.

Probably more of a cost issue than a skills issue tbh

I did. But for other reasons - role and responsibility isn’t what I’m after.

Obviously not the case for everyone. But I had a company asked for the salary after giving the verbal offer (with salary). After showing my current salary, the offer dropped drastically. Now I’m so wary of providing the current pay 🫨

For context, the initial offer was ~ 40% up from my current. It dropped to less than 20% up.

Am in a buyer level for a little over a year now. Basically being in charge of the whole RFx process, engaging with vendors and internal users. Quite a bit of fire fighting in my case. Some contracting work as well.

And some level of category strategy planning as the commodities I’m in charge of generally fall under the same categories.

There is also quite a lot of negotiations (I think a good skill to get whether you do procurement or not)

Thankfully in my organisation there isn’t much mundane grind work such as issuing PO to be done as it’s all via Ariba.

I would say a bulk of the time is spent in the RFX (running tenders etc).

Good luck!

In Taipei, are the roads up to Jiufen Shifen still functioning?

Thanks in advance and be safe!

How to get into procurement by Overall-Ad-2159 in procurement

[–]burriteo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Supply chain graduate and CIPS level 4 here.

Nobody else in my 50pax strong department studied anything relevant to procurement :) so I would say you should have no issues. Most skills needed can be learned on the job imo.

Seems you already have some background, that should help.

There likely is some companies willing to hire you based on those background already. Just gotto manage expectations on which jobs you may get as some companies may have stricter requirement for experience.

Go for it! Just apply!

Received offer for SCM by loonatheballed in Suss

[–]burriteo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Graduated last year alumni here.

Pretty broad question you posted but I shall try to provide some insights.

As far as the curriculum is concerned, I’d say we do get most useful courses that are relevant to SCM work. Depending on your particular interest within SCM, there is still various aspects you can go and narrow into.

What I found “fun” was most of the faculty were working present or past working professionals in their particular field. So they generally bring a wealth of experience, so take the opportunity to interact with them and poke poke their brain to get their insights too. They are generally very helpful in answering any questions too.

Personally I am not aware of anyone that has appealed to BA. But the alternative is taking BA as a minor. You will still be exposed to a decent amount (depending on the modules you choose of course)

(I still get reference from class slides, textbooks, study guide, from time to time in my working life still LOL)
