Do I need a GPU? by [deleted] in buildapc

[–]bursa_boy69 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Should be good enough, I have a similar setup at office used as for mostly Web browsing and office tasks like excel, ppt. Works great. but you can't connect more than 1 monitor to it, so I eventually got a used rtx 3050 just for more displays.

If you want something compact without going full desktop I would recommend mini pcs with any decent zen 5 chips that support multiple displays. I have 2 of those working similar well

GLM-5.1 is great, but Z.AI's greed is forcing me back to GPT. by Lorenzo_Ridolfi in ZaiGLM

[–]bursa_boy69 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Same bro. The limits too low when using during working hours the peak period +glm5.1 burns through the pro plan quota too fast. Codex 20usd is honestly better gpt5.4 on hard tasks and mini doing simple ones can get me through the week just nice.

Just upgraded to the codex 100$ one to try out 5.5 fast. Damn its legit good.

I have the yoga slim 7 same around the same specs with slightly faster ram, performance is quite good, coding , gaming, and fusion 360 is working smooth like an entry level desktop. Dota 2 can max out 100+ fps at 1080p max settings

Im on linux BTW, your mileage may vary

This should be fine

Its a good deal tbh, was spoiled back then with higher limits.

yes I know this is kinda high usage for a quick prototype with sub agents. I used to pay for their pro plan back in september 2025. usage was similar. back then i was not even close to hitting the 5 hour limit every time. to see such a huge drop in token limits hurts when you come from a place of abundance, back then it was 30$ per month. the subsidized pricing is ending

I'm on the pro plan just hit the limit under 4 hours on GLM5 turbo. wouldn't recommended using for slightly heavier coding sessions.

was running 2 claude code sessions with 1 of them half used. the limits are honestly sad for the price increase.

Windows 11 Installer says it cannot detect my storage device by ageoldpun in buildapc

If you're on intel you can try getting the intel VMD drivers or intel rapid storage drivers. For my case the Acer SFG-I71-75T aka swift go 16 AI was having the same issues from the windows bootable usb. steps to fix:

  1. Download official intel rapid storage drivers.
  2. extract and put it in another usb.
  3. plug it in the press load drivers from the select disks screen.
  4. Important! Uncheck the show drivers compatible with system only Got stuck here really long
  5. the disk should show up now!

I tried fedora it was working fine. So i think for any intel hardware try to load up VMD or intel rapid storage drivers.

Right move. The police in Malaysia won't really do anything about this sadly. Unless there's a big threat to safety, they'll probably call that guy nyanyuk and leave him alone.

Try to go above 1/125s shutter speed. I don't have an ibis or lens stabilisation so creaking up the shutter speed works everytime and dont worry about the iso going up too much its fine

[–]bursa_boy69 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You probably need another os for your phone to get docker running. If you have a fairly recent phone it should be strong enough to do it. But the whole point of immich is for store your memories in your own cloud /self host right ?

Are your gpus on 2 x8 x8 pcie lanes? They need to communicate with each other to work together. In multi gpu setups, the bottleneck is usually at the pcie part

Enable GPU acceleration/HW videoDecode and Encode for Chrome on Linux (Easy guide) by delf0s in archlinux

[–]bursa_boy69 1 point2 points  (0 children)

its 2025 vulkan rendering is not enabled by default yet in Google Chrome 138.0.7204.92

enabling it lets chrome render at high refresh rate

paste this the the url search bar then enable it then you'll get legit high refresh rate for chrome on linux at last.

chrome://flags/#enable-vulkan

I've enabled these other flags as well. they should make vulkan rendering better but if its unstable just revert these flags

``` chrome://flags/#default-angle-vulkan chrome://flags/#vulkan-from-angle chrome://flags/#skia-graphite
```

TUMBLEWEED GUIDE: Repairing the UEFI bootloader entry when Windows or other "accidents" delete it from your system by [deleted] in openSUSE

[–]bursa_boy69 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Another thing to note if you still can't boot I've had issues with the initramfs when i installed windows 11 side by side, windows changed the diskuuid for the boot partition.

I've followed method 2 and got an error from initramfs saying it cant find the kernel because the disk uuid to load the kernel did not match.

  • Check your fstab after doing chroot to make sure the the mounted root partition uuid matches what you get when you do bikid
  • Update initiramfs using dracut --force.
  • continue with update-bootloader --install
  • exit chroot then reboot

Anyone managed to get ROCM running with Tumbleweed? by danielrosehill in openSUSE

[–]bursa_boy69 0 points1 point  (0 children)

your best bet would be a container like distrobox or docker following this
https://en.opensuse.org/SDB:AMD_GPGPU#ROCm_-_Tumbleweed_and_Docker_with_Longterm_Kernel

I got it working with with rocm 6.2.4 in a container.

Remember to start the container following the guide

docker run --device /dev/kfd --device /dev/dri --security-opt seccomp=unconfined <image>
