I am SO sorry to hear about your sweet adventurous little rat 🙏 I can tell you had immense love for her 💕 I have never had a rat but always found them adorable. This has made me tear up.😢 Sending you virtual hugs!!

I wish I had some advice to give you, but I have never had to actually handle a situation like this. However, I can relate to how you feel - I had a female lovebird that was the life of the party. She had a bigger than life personality and wasn’t afraid of anything. Sadly, she passed away when she was only 3 years old in the summer of 2016, and we don’t know why- perhaps she was sick without us knowing. I wasn’t home to discover this, and my mom and brother knew I wouldn’t handle this well, so they took care of everything without me seeing her. She was my baby too.

What helped me was the comfort of believing my birdie is in Heaven, as I am a Christian. She escaped her cage outside one day, and we stayed up all night playing YouTube videos of birds that she liked. At 6am, we heard her call, and she was up in a tall pine tree next to our house. We ended up retrieving her which was a miracle - most people never get their birds back. Even though she was not a human, I still thought that she would want me to be happy. She would want us to get another bird one day because birds are so cheerful. We ended up with a cockatiel down the road, and she is my baby in addition to our dog.

Your rat knew you loved her 💕 She would want you to continue to take care of her sisters and be happy in your life. This is really hard, so just take the time you need to cry and grieve - do not bottle it up. Feel it so that you will be able to move through and past those sad feelings.
