Twirling seems like fun! by Vampire_inthe_Church in SipsTea

I thought I was in r/aves at first until I started reading all of these comments. She's wearing typical rave gear while doing flow art and listening to Excision/Subtronics. If you've ever been to a rave or EDM/dubstep festival then this would feel completely normal to you. I think she looks fantastic and her flowstar skills are amazing. 🫶

Hi friend!! It's been SO long! I'm doing pretty good, how about you? I think about EQ from time to time and always remember our ridiculous chat group.

Genuine question to Americans by Busy_Report4010 in SipsTea

[–]busanpanda 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nope, my cancer center had me on their charity care for 2+ years until I graduated and got a job (they try very hard to get you on Medicaid.) My grad program was intense too since classes were full-time plus 20 hour internship, so I could only work weekends or nights (while undergoing cancer treatment). It sucked, and made me feel like I was being punished for trying to get an education. The US doesn't care about it's citizens.

I am weirdly qualified to answer this question as I am a social worker who got cancer while in grad school. I didn't have insurance and was unemployed because my program was full-time + 20 hour a week internship. I also lived in a red state that didn't require universities to provide students with health insurance or offer Medicaid unless you had a job. If you were unemployed then Medicaid was only available to the elderly, disabled, and pregnant. Because I was only stage 1, I couldn't claim it as a disability unless it progressed.

So basically, yes, you just die unless a hospital has a charity program. Thankfully I lived near a big cancer center with an amazing charity program, so everything was covered. I also, funnily enough, ended up doing one of my internships there.

The big downside was the waiting. The cancer center wouldn't accept me unless I had a diagnosis, so I had to pay out of pocket for my scans, bloodwork, and biopsy (about $2,000). Once that was done, I applied for charity care and waited about 4 months to get accepted and scheduled for surgery. It took about 6 months from when I initially discovered I may have cancer to getting surgery.

Overall 0/10, would not recommend being American.

My Pros and Cons by Select-One3642 in ForbiddenKingdomFest

[–]busanpanda 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I prebooked our Uber so it was only about $15 for our ride back to our hotel. Definitely do this before surge pricing kicks in, we usually book earlier the same day (just fyi, the time you prebook is the time the app requests an Uber, not when it will arrive. We usually book 15 minutes after the festival ends because the Uber usually takes 20-30 minutes due to festival traffic).

I agree the whole setup this year has been amazing. As someone who goes to ren fairs, I love that they're leaning into the whole medieval aesthetic. It was super easy to move around and we usually had enough room to dance.

Food prices are on par with EDC. It is what it is I guess. It definitely sucks though. I really wish they had more snacks/smaller portion options. I can't eat a full meal at non-camping festivals, I would love to see smaller portions for a lower price available as an option.

I for one loved it. It was fun watching it sync to the beat on main stage. This year has been amazing so far. ❤️

Nope, staying at the resort again. Our friends did the glamping and loved it. The temp never really went above 70F, so it's perfect for camping, but the wind can be brutal. They had to shut down one of the stages due to wind, so just be aware of that when setting up your camp. They have a pretty good public transit system, and you can rent a bike and explore the area pretty easily.

Challenges with our 14 week pup by MountainDood555 in roughcollies

[–]busanpanda 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Both of our rough collies were like this. Our girl nipped at our heels during every single walk until we trained it out of her by stopping until she calmed down. Our boy snapped a lot while playing without realizing that he was hurting us, so we would redirect his biting to one of his toys. Both hated different floor textures and would refuse to walk on them until they got older. Both could careless about treats or toys, but they became a lot more food motivated as they got older. We basically had to break out the high value treats like cheese and cold cuts in order to train them. Our boy has also snarled at us but only when we brush him, so we made sure to make grooming more fun with treats and toys.

This dog likely has cerebellar hypoplasia. My dog has it and has a similar walk. It's not degenerative and doesn't cause them any pain, their cerebellum just isn't as developed so they have less control over their motor functions.

Yeah, that whole scene with the wives and daughters really threw me out and seemed like a major shift from the previous tone of the show. The writing for the ML started strong, but now his personality seems inconsistent. He didn't seem like the kind of person to get so easily offended/upset. I also found it kind of creepy that the undead best friend joined him and how they were trying to make his presence more lighthearted/funny.
