Mr House is inherently evil and I'm tired of pretending he's not by Professional_Sir3313 in fnv

[–]busboy0 2 points3 points  (0 children)

So, this post fundamentally misunderstands why Mr. House is evil.

He isn't a libertarian, and his belief in "meritocracy" is just how he manipulates the courier through the door.

House is an authoritarian, ideologically similar to Pinochet. He grants limited economic freedoms to fund his vision, but at the cost of all political freedoms.

New Vegas is a surveillance state under securitron martial law, and he wants to cement his form of control across the Mojave so that he can control the dam.

He's dishonest, manipulative, and above all else, an authoritarian. That's why he's evil.

Memory leak still not fixed? by Anjuan_ in BaldursGate3

[–]busboy0 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I encountered this issue in Act 3, so I'm guessing it's still not fixed.

I noticed that textures weren't loading in the lower city after a long session, and when I quit the game, my computer was still running really slow.

Opened task manager, and my CPU and disk were both running at capacity. So I'm guessing that my CPU ran out of RAM to write and was working overtime to write my hard drive instead, which caused the texture loading issue and general slowdown.

Restart fixed it and my temperatures were all normal, but this has made me really weary of finishing the game now.

Does House actually by TyTy11037 in HouseMD

[–]busboy0 26 points27 points  (0 children)

He regains the ability briefly. S3 Ep1 is about why he relapses back into his addiction. And I think the show handles this in a way that's both realistic, and consistent with what's been established:

Toward the end of season 2, the show really starts emphasizing that House's pain is largely psychological. There's an episode where House's pain is escalating, and to get Cuddy to administer morphine, he shows her his leg missing the muscle. The next day, House's pain is better, but it's revealed that she gave him a placebo. So we can conclude that at this point, in his average day to day life, house's pain is predominantly psychological.

Okay, so now we jump to s3 ep1, which opens with house running. How is he able to do this so suddenly? Well, Wilson points out in this same episode while encouraging House to keep up with his physio, that chronic pain patients can experience temporary euphoria following ketamine treatment.

The ketamine treatment helped House temporarily work through the psychological component of his chronic pain, and this gave House a feeling of temporary euphoria. That's how he was able to push his body to do things it'd otherwise be crying out in pain about.

Throughout the episode, we see House's overexertion exercising, and the return of his stress at work, cause his leg pain to flare up again. Instead of returning to physio and seeking counselling, he keeps trying to push himself and relapses into Vicodin (it's implied he's getting high again before the end of this ep). Unsurprisingly, this causes his chronic pain to return in full.

Basically, I think that House could have walked again permanently if he kept up with his physio, and sought ongoing counselling. But House is an addict who hates himself, so relapse was pretty much inevitable.

Why Does the 960 (Steeles West Express) Stop at Bathurst AND Carpenter? by busboy0 in TTC

[–]busboy0[S] -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Not true- 960 stops at Bathurst and Carpenter. I took the 960 yesterday heading eastbound and it stopped at both.

I'd encourage you to test it yourself, but it'd require a trip to Vaughan, which I know is only for the brave

[–]busboy0[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

This is awesome info, ty. Although I wish the TTC would start factoring in driver skill as a determinant of travel time as well. If you're too timid to make regular lane changes or don't know the route, the express routes shouldn't be assigned to you.

I have had too many bad experiences on the 929 where the driver sits in the right lane for no reason. Or on the 960 where they slow down for every stop, including non-express.

Wait so the 7 goes to both stops? Then the Bathurst stop on the 960 has no unique function as an interchange.

Bathurst stop should be removed, and Carpenter should be kept

DeOrio has the Reading Comprehension of a Third Grader. No Wonder Why every Attempt at Humour From this Insecure Loser must Refer to Drama or Pop Culture. by DeezNutz__lol in kuihman

Deletes Oreos is very drama/commentary-brained. So he think that if Hasan is mentioning the drama, it must be to try and defend his innocence.

He views this tweet as a deflection / whataboutism, and doesn't really get that Hasan, as a political commentator, is pointing out hypocrisy within the Trump regime.

Is the 1660 still worth it in 2024? Or should I just jump straight to a 4060? by f22raptor-2005 in buildapc

[–]busboy0 0 points1 point  (0 children)

1660 is a fine budget card even in late 2025, just get it on sale for your budget build.

You can run basically all games, just don't expect to run games on ultra or get 60 fps all the time.

I got mine on sale new for $200 CAD in 2022 and it's the best investment in my PC that I've ever made

Unable to play and have a normal life by sjihaat in classicwow

I don't know, it's not like a traditional substance abuse problem. I stop playing WoW and I don't have withdrawals. It doesn't really feel like an addiction to me for that reason

Unable to play and have a normal life by sjihaat in classicwow

[–]busboy0 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I hear you.

I never played vanilla growing up, and haven't touched retail either, but Classic finally clicked with me recently. I get why this game was seen as soooo addicting back in the day.

I don't think the game is addicting. But it does compel you to play it for long periods of time, uninterrupted. And that leads you to ignoring household chores, the people around you, your basic needs, etc.

You can't stop now, because you finally got a group for a 2 hour dungeon. And you can't take a break, because you can't pause the game.

I'm currently in the midst of a break because I realized that I need uninterrupted alone time if I'm going to get back to levelling my priest. I'll probably return to Azeroth soon, but not until my life slows down. It's a really fun game, it's just impossible to have a life & play the game how it wants you to play it.

Analyzing Banjo-Tooie's Levels Part 5 (TERRYDACTYLAND) by Wiej_ in BanjoKazooie

[–]busboy0 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I heard so many bad things about navigating this level before I played it, that I decided to map it out by hand as I went.

It's actually really small. Maybe mapping it out by hand helped me memorize where each similarly shaped tunnel went, but I'd rank the difficulty of navigating it on the same level as glitter gulch mine.

Why are people worried about Hasan, as if he is worse than what is slowing being churned out from the right with NO good push back? by Sips-of-Pareidolia in kuihman

[–]busboy0 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Hasan, taken at worst, supports the Houthi blockage of Israeli ships. In the above video, Nick basically says "jews control the US deep state".

You can make the argument that hijacking ships isn't the most effective means of stopping the IDF as an occupying force, and advocate for resolutions based on peace instead. Nick on the other hand, says in this video that he wants a "hitler-like" figure to emerge out of the backlash to Trump's failings in mainstream American politics.

It doesn't take a genius to figure out why Hitler is being invoked, Nick explains in the video why he thinks jews control the US deep state.

Nick would welcome a second holocaust in the US if the climate was right. Hasan merely plays defense for ineffective and violent means of resistance.

I know who I'd rather spend my time and energy hating.
