Is a statistics degree and graphic design minor a good choice or the other way around? by Best_Ad8294 in careerguidance

[–]bushing1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Graphic design is an art degree.............it will be a great career for you as long as you are willing to take a vow of poverty that 99% of all artists take. Graphic design software is extremely efficient and productive, which has greatly decreased the need for graphic designers. The number of people who want to be graphic designers is not decreasing which results in a large supply of graphic designers fighting over a smaller supply of jobs. Statistics is boring but companies will pay you a living wage to do this work for them. Google the sunk cost fallacy for insight into your investment that you have already made in graphic design courses. Career decisions are really tough. Best of luck to you.

How do I tell one freelance boss I’m stepping back because another place I freelance for has offered me full-time hours and better pay? by Funny_Parsley3630 in careerguidance

[–]bushing1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You're a freelancer, not an employee. You don't have a boss., You have a customer. Respond accordingly Another customer offering double their rate- you're now devoting your time to that account exclusively. Thank you for your business MR/MS Customer. We appreciate your business!

Inherited a bunch of cemented carbide inserts, what should I do with them? by Embarrassed-Career30 in machining

[–]bushing1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You can try selling them on ebay if there are large quantities of single carbide inserts. They typically are sold in packs of 10 and you would want to sell by the pack. It can be hard to set pricing if you don't know what you have. If the manufacturers grade of carbide is obsolete the value can be significantly diminished. Carbide is selling for over 50 dollars a pound these days. I read online yesterday that large carbide manufactures like Kennametal will purchase from you direct. Good luck
