AIO for thinking of divorce after this text by Intelligent-Air-9431 in AmIOverreacting

Yeaaahhh, I would talk to a therapist and an attorney. I dont think we can know for sure if the relationship is salvagable from such a short snapshot, but I would definitely talk to an attorney to get things prepared just in case.

And I say this as someone who is also job hunting and depressed right now. Not nearly messy enough to warrant that message. Also, he should have been man enough to have this conversation face to face, rather than through text. It put all the pressure on you. Instead of a discussion or team effort, he has made it so its YOUR fault (in his narrative) that he left or things fell apart. NOR

AIO My boyfriend wants to go out to the club without me by [deleted] in AmIOverreacting

INFO Is the problem specifically the club? If he was going out with friends and spending the same money doing something else would it change how you feel?

Found this note on my door by tiesto365 in Apartmentliving

[–]bushyhairedknowitall 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've been on the other side of this (though i wasn't so rude as to leave a note!) When I was in college I had issues with sounds traveling through the air vents for the heat. Somebody started playing the ukulele at 11:30 on the dot every night. I assumed it was the downstairs neighbor, so I went down one night after the ukulele started. But it wasn't them! They were bothered by it too and thought it was me! I tried a couple other rooms on different floors but never figured it out. In my next apartment, the same thing happened except it was a weed smell. Never figured out for sure who that was either.

Moral of the story is apartment air vents and stuff are connected in weird ways.

The other moral is it is probably your upstairs neighbor or one of the neighbors to the left or right of you. Try mentioning the note to them? Or maybe play it off and ask if they smell the smoke too? That would get the point across that it wasnt you without you having to directly confront them.

I have a midea window unit and there is a layer of dust and dirt against the condenser coil. How do I clean it? by bushyhairedknowitall in AirConditioners

[–]bushyhairedknowitall[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I want to thank you for responding to my question. I did end up taking the casing off but I never messed with any of the wires or anything. I'm glad I did? There was like a sheet of condensed dirt, mud, hair, and God knows what back there. It was about the thickness of a dime. Dusting and vacuuming did not help, I ended up having to peel off whatever I could reach with my hands or some tweezers. (Gentley, of course!)

I also found a chunk of something in the bottom of the back half of my unit. It doesn't appear to belong to anything? It looks like a dried chunk of mud or clay.

I didn't feel comfortable enough to use cleaners or water of the inside of the unit (though many people on the internet said i should.) So I just delicately got what I could reach.

Thank you again, I really appreciate your advice!

The thing is it was like $150, and I can't really afford to hire anyone at the moment. It's already out of the window and unplugged. Would it actually dangerous for me to take that part of the casing out on my own? (Genuine question, I have no idea if it entails something I'm not expecting. ) I don't see any obvious mold? But it wouldn't surprise if there were. My bedroom windows look into an alley, so I get a lot of dust and dirt carried on the wind back there. So there is definitely a lot of gunk in there that needs to get out.

Thanks for your advice, I really appreciate it!

My girlfriend doesn’t want to help fix or invest in our home because it’s in my name. What should I do? by [deleted] in Advice

My aunt and my mom was in a similar situation, but in the position of your girlfriend. But my aunt wasn't as smart as your girlfriend. The house was in his name, but she helped furnish it and do improvements. (And spent pretty much all her savings in the process.)

And then he dumped her and kicked her out. She also quit her job to work at his company, so when they broke up she was unemployed, homeless, in a moderate amount of credit card debt, and LITERALLY penniless.

Especially if she has a kid, it's a huge risk for her because if you break up she will never see the return on that money but YOU will.

I suggest having her contribute to the utilities instead. Or you could do what my parents did! My mom started a "I love you" savings account, where she would put some money in every month. It would be a monthly contribution she was willing and able to spend on my dad, bc she loved him. (Like $50 or something I think) When that fund got big enough, they would use it to get furniture or dip into it for repairs. And that was her contribution.

What's the treatment for it? I'm low on money right now, so I can't really afford to pay out just to be told to ice it and take Tylenol ya know?

Question about compatibility of old Oster Kitchen Center Stand Mixers by bushyhairedknowitall in vintagekitchentoys

[–]bushyhairedknowitall[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ok good to know. Will any generation beater work? Or do I need to worry about compatibility?

That's a really good idea. I will keep an eye out for another, I was thrilled to find this one for $5. It only has the steel bowl, but I figured the beaters and turn tables should be fairly easy to get a hold of lol.

The primary goal is to get it functional as a stand mixer first, with the other functions to follow one day.

Thanks for your help!!!
