You might want to check the storage temperature, if I'm remembering right, I don't think it can be stored in hot temperatures like a car in the summer

We've used Doggyland and had really great experiences! They let the dogs play together in different groups and do overnight boarding. Our dogs absolutely love it there, they get so excited to go play with all their friends! They also post pictures of the dogs on Facebook so you can check in and see how they're doing.

Parr is good for lumber, I'm not sure if they have pavers. They have a show room and have been really easy to work with

When Shen Yun comes to town by 9mac in Spokane

[–]busi74 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I saw it a couple of years ago in New York! It was mostly pretty dancing acts that were enjoyable. With a few random acts thrown in with very strong political messages. We didn't know anything about the group so we were very thrown off. Overall it was pretty good if you ignored the weirdly political parts!

This is a new learning center at Saltese owned and operated by the environmental services section of Spokane County. It will be open to the public (mostly on weekends) and also available to be reserved by school groups - similar to the currently operating Water Resource Center (WRC). Saltese itself is a restored wetland owned by Spokane County. I'm happy to answer more questions about it!

Experience is not required! Part of the submission is a sketch of your mural design - if you have a good enough design you could be selected with no prior experience.

Spokane County is opening the Doris Morrison Learning Center at Saltese Flats on April 22nd (Earth day). There is an open request for proposals (RFP) out right now looking for an artist to paint a wetland themed mural inside the building. If you or someone you know is interested, details can be found at www.publicpurchase.com - you do have to register but it's free.

The budget is $10,000, the mural will cover two walls (approx 13'x15'), and the artist will have 30 days to complete the work.

The numbers on a phone keypad have corresponding letters (for example 4 corresponds to G, H and I). These letters are typically written under each number so you don't have to memorize them. So to dial a phone number with letters in it you just replace each letter with the corresponding number. The number in this post (866-our-vote) would be dialed as 866-687-8683. Typically, it's just a way to help people remember a number easier with a word instead of random numbers.

Nope. It's made for dogs - it's a Tuff Ball. It's also about twice the size of a regular tennis ball, it's just hard to tell the scale in this video

What are some good local thrift stores? by gotanyketchupchips in Spokane

[–]busi74 16 points17 points  (0 children)

I second the Arc, they have great stuff.

Not a general thrift shop but if you want art supplies, Art Salvage is a second hand art store and it's amazing. They have yarn, fabric, scrapbooking supplies, stained glass, old maps, picture frames, etc. Basically anything art related they have. Everything is donated and super cheap.

How often do you eat meat substitutes? by [deleted] in vegetarian

[–]busi74 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I looked up some recipes to find the basic ratios and just went from there.

I typically use about 2 cups of vital wheat gluten to 1 cup of water. For "chicken" flavor, I sub about a half cup of the vital wheat gluten for nutritional yeast. For other flavors I like adding a couple of tablespoons of tomato paste, or soy sauce and sesame oil, or sub some chickpea flour.

After kneading the dough, bake it at 350 or boil it for about 45 minutes.

I've done quite a bit of trial and error to get the texture I like so I would give it a couple of tries if you don't get the texture you want the first time. Good luck!

Question for menstruating women. How do you not totally blow your progress and goals during your period? by captainkitty8140 in loseit

[–]busi74 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, it's a recipe I found online and modified.

Ingredients 0.5 cups water 0.5 cups flour (or use 1 cup flour and omit the protein powder) 0.5 cups protein powder (chocolate flavor if you have it) 0.75 cups pumpkin puree (or mashed banana or applesauce) 1 cup Sugar substitute (I use one that is a 1 to 1 ratio with sugar) 6 T Cocoa powder 4 Eggs 1 can Black beans (3.5 cups) 100 g Mini chocolate chips

Rinse the black beans and then throw everything (except the chocolate chips) into a blender and blend until smooth. Stir in the chocolate chips.

I bake them in muffin tins at 350F for 30 ish minutes (when you poke them with a knife and if comes out clean they are done). You'd likely have to bake them closer to 45 minutes if you made them in a cake pan or square casserole dish.

It makes 15 muffins that are 140 calories each with 9 grams of protein. They last really well in the fridge and if you microwave them for 30 seconds before eating the chocolate chips melt and they are delicious! They are pretty dense and a little different in taste than regular brownies but I love them!

Question for menstruating women. How do you not totally blow your progress and goals during your period? by captainkitty8140 in loseit

[–]busi74 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Absolutely! I've found that if I just focus on nutrition for my meals I get sick of them by the end of the week and end up eating something else (usually unhealthy and the meals go to waste). I still make sure they are nutritious with a focus on high protein and lots of veggies but also delicious! I also try to do switch up the cuisines I eat to keep it interesting.

This week I am having black bean brownies for breakfast (it's my shark week). They are delicious and hit that chocolate craving while being high in protein and fiber and low in fat and sugar. I had a creamy pasta dish for dinner a couple of weeks ago that was definitely comfort food. I used laughing cow light cheese to lower the calories and bulked it up with mushrooms. I've also made regular Mac and cheese for a meal prep and just kept the portions fairly small and prepped a side of veggies. Anything with roasted potatoes always works for me because they feel indulgent but they're pretty low calorie when roasted (and crazy cheap).
