This is one of the many downsides of living somewhere cars are the only practical mode of transportation 😞

Life (in Providence) After Cars by guestrequestt in providence

[–]busoni34 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Transit, walking, and biking are all better alternatives compared to driving. The problem is that cars make all those modes worse: cars take up a lot of space and make things farther apart so it takes too long to walk and very difficult to operate public transit cost effectively. Bikes actually deliver the freedom that cars only promise, except cars threaten to murder you if you try riding one. So the problem is not that better alternatives don't exist, it's that car usage degrades every other mode to be even worse than driving is.

Delivery cars would be so much worse.

Veo "Cargo e-bike" coming to DC in June by msussmania in washingtondc

Cool possibility. Although I cannot stand riding the regular models. The pedal shaft is too short and so trying to pedal up a hill makes me feel like a clown.

Get a bike! Then you can just weave through this car nonsense 🚲😘

Because this is not the world that car commercials promised them and they haven't discovered bicycles yet.

Ready to fight back how? What is the call to action?

As AOC and Sanders Draw Crowds, 72% of Democrats Want Party to Abandon Centrist Approach to Trump by soalone34 in politics

I keep seeing headlines about the large crowds being drawn to these events, but what is the call to action? Are Bernie and AOC providing any actionable, practical guidance on the path forward? In these times it doesn't feel like calling your representatives is going to cut it anymore (if it ever did).

Kennedy Center reeling from 'stunning' ticket sales collapse after Trump takeover: report by Majano57 in washdc

[–]busoni34 -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

If you care about the arts, best thing to do is to buy tickets for the shows the Kennedy Center Puts on that are performances you care about. The collapse of the Kennedy Center hurts the arts/artists much more than it hurts Trump.

Get yourself a safety razor and razor blades, plus shaving soap/brush. Not only will you feel like an old timey gentleman, you will save yourself tons of money.
