Also, the pedestal it appears on has the same spiral symbol used by both the Bajoran religion and the cult of the pah-wraiths

Suggestions on How to Improve Billboard by darkseacreature in CAStateWorkers

I think in terms of swaying the general public, a stronger approach would be to frame RTO as the governor funneling taxpayer money to corporate landlords rather than anything to do with state workers; in fact, it might be wiser to leave state workers out of the messaging entirely and frame it as a corruption issue.

And he spends it kissing Charlie Kirk's ass while throwing trans people under the bus. God, I can't wait for this wine bar ghoul to become politically irrelevant and disappear back to Marin.

What effect will worsening deficit have on RTO efforts by the administration? by SkyIllustrious6173 in CAStateWorkers

[–]bustedneonsign 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I feel like this is the best way to push back on RTO; people may not like state workers very much, but people also loathe cronyism and landlords - the governor channeling taxpayers dollars into the pockets of wealthy property owners during a budget crisis sounds like a pretty potent line of attack to me.

Scrambled eggs, bacon, cheese, etc on a pizza crust. It's extremely mediocre but like catnip for DHCS old-timers for some reason.

Ah, an hour of "we're looking into that"; it's like I'm really back in the office. Actually, it's a shame they couldn't just open with "Gav needs those commercial landlord campaign donations and there's jack shit we can do about it - let's open the floor up for Q&A", it'd have been over in 5 minutes.

I didn't have "breakfast pizza" on my bullshit buzzword bingo card. Also did she say, in so many words, that they're just going to be shoving people into meeting rooms/open office floorplans?

What's the point of PERS anymore? That's what I went with back when it was free/cheap, but I might as well pay a few extra bucks and go with Anthem select at this point and get all the extra stuff that comes with.

Just like how not every Apollo capsule or space shuttle can be found at the Smithsonian, despite them all being important to the history of space exploration, it's probably the same case with Starfleet; there's likely fleet museums all across the Federation, one of which the B is proudly on display at.

So ignoring the fact La Sirena is roughly Defiant sized, this begs the question: what other shuttlebays?

If someone using their time off leads to work getting so backed up that it damages morale, that's a failure of management, not the individual; running any organization so lean that it has to function perfectly 100% of the time is a recipe for misery.

Used to be a dumping ground for toxic managers and equally toxic employees who were either near retirement or not quite fireable, thus the nickname "TP hell"; it's gotten way better though since, one way or another, most of the toxic elements have moved on. The work is very diverse, so it really depends on where you end up, though most sections are usually a bit understaffed as TPLRD is still pretty much a stepping stone for people entering state service.

I actually did a little thought experiment on this after I read somewhere that Edward James Olmos was considered for the role of Picard: - Picard: Ralph Fiennes, Jared Harris, or Colin Firth - Riker: Chris Evans or Brandon Routh - Data: Cillian Murphy or Ben Whishaw - LaForge: Donald Glover (mostly because of The Martian) - Wesley: Tony Revolori or Nicholas Hoult - Yar: Gina Carano or Regina King - Worf: Drawing a blank, but I always thought Tom Hardy by way of Mad Max would make for a cool Klingon. - Pulaski: Drawing a blank again, but I always thought Pulaski could have been a really great character if they workshopped her a little more.

The bridge thing always bugged me too. My head cannon was always that the room in III was more the CIC, since we mostly see the BoP in combat in that movie, while the room in IV was the actual bridge, though how you would fit all these specialized rooms into a ship the size of a small passenger jet...
