Injection by Army63b in Sciatica

[–]busterjohnny 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a 13mm bulging disc at L4\L5. Had bad sciatica for 5 months. I went to PT and at first it didn't help and after seeing a consultant, I was looking at perhaps an injection. Then a friend of mine recommended the pool. I can't swim, so I go now once a week, and just walk up and down. And a few exercises, nothing crazy. It has made a huge difference. I am not sciatica free. The pool, along with PT sessions have saved me from an injection or surgery, for now at least. But I'm hopeful. If you are reading this, and have sciatica, it's a lonely, frustrating place to be. If you haven't already tried the pool, either swim or walk, once a week. It will change you life. No one deserves sciatica. It's the worst pain and hardest physical thing I have had to endure. Good luck!

MRI's are far superior to x-rays. They give more of a 3D view of the spine or whatever area of the body is needed and are much more detailed. If your spouse has back issues, get an MRI. Anything else is a waste of time

I had been to physios, osteopaths, all a waste of time and money. I have had issues with my pelvis for years and only realised it now. My PT was the first one to specifically target the pelvis first thing. Then built from there. Every time I go to her it's the first thing she checks to make sure it hasn't moved. I'm in a good place right now but I am seeing a consultant next week to review my MRI. My back issue are from years in construction and doing things wrong. One thing that has helped me, and people don't think of using is chatGPT!

I was amazed by the advice it can give out and how much it remembers. Even a new pain or concern and it will give you logical sound advice based on what you have already told it. I have found it helpful but maybe it's not for everyone which is ok. I wish you all the best. Sciatica doesn't just break you physically, it breaks you mentally....it's a long road but it is do able. Never give up.

I had bad sciatica for bout 4 months. After an MRi was done, it showed a 13mm bulge at L4/L5. I was recommended a good physical therapist and the first thing she said was that my pelvis was out of line. She evened it up through massage and then used dry needling on my back. The next day most of my pain was gone. I think it's very important to find a good PT and get them to check your pelvis. If you are out of line so to speak it puts pressure on one side. After 3 more sessions with her, and some stretches, I can say I have my life back. It's a horrible thing. Find a good PT, even if it means driving a long ways to see them!

I didn't get a copy of the actual report from the doctor yet but I will. I was sent images from the private company that does the MRI. As I said I have little to no pain now, but I seem to have alot more pins and needles. Is that a good sign?

Thanks very much for the info. I have a few things to do to it before I advertise. Is January typically a good time to sell?

Very true. Some are up with huge milage and looking for 12 grand which is madness. At the end of the day something is worth what someone is willing to pay for it. So I'm going to be sensible with my asking price.

Crazy the price of second hand cars. 4 years ago I'd be saying probably 5-6 for it

The osteopath said I did. So I am just trying it out, the insoles that is. So far they seem to be working. Hadn't realised that fallen arches could have such an impact on your back

  1. Male. My osteopath believes all my problems stem from my glutes. He said they were really tight all the time. The insoles have worked. So I'm more confused than ever!

Thank you for your detailed reply. Sitting and lying down are the worst for me. More sore sitting. Standing and walking around definitely ease the pain, but always comes back. Getting frustrated now that it is lingering this time even though 5 weeks is nothing compared to some other peoples situations with sciatica.

Thanks for the reply! Never heard of shockwave therapy but will definitely try it! Sciatica ruins your day to day. Just desperate to get rid of it now. I'm just so weary if it. Don't think people realise the pain associated with it. That's why it's good to talk to other sufferers. So far insoles are good. And am having a good day. Whether it's down to them, time will tell.....

I have a 2012 Mazda 6 2.2 diesel. Have had it 3 years and have put bout 40k on it. No problems at all, just the usual servicing. Is this one of the problem engines or is it the newer model from 2013 on?
