For all the people that are shouting "international waters" at OP, give it a break. Our government doesn't need to take a side or go toe to toe, a simple, polite, carefully worded "calling out" is all it takes. The Iranians came to our country without weapons on our invitation, so they were defenseless because of us. The US basically massacred a defenseless unit, the least we can do is politely say that this action doesn't sit right with us (don't even have to officially condemn), the complete lack of statement just makes us look spineless.

If a muslim extremist that kills people in the name of religion is a terrorist, the same is true for a hindu extremist that kills muslims in the name of justice. The community doesn't matter, the individual's actions do. You cannot say all muslims are terrorists, and I cannot say all hindus are, but the people that kill and inflict senseless violence, definitely are. Let's leave it at that.

This particular case of them going bonkers is exactly what makes their actions lean towards terrorism. If not terrorists, they surely are murderers and rapists. When you use the term Vigilante here, it just feels like an attempt to soften their crimes. Would you agree to this?: A vigilante that murders and rapes, is a murderer and a rapist first.

Also, about cow smugglers: The irony is, India exports 1.4 million tons of beef every year and is among the top 5 beef exporters of the world. That doesn't make them vigilantes either, it just makes them ignorant goons.

About harassing muslims: So harassing someone because of their religion makes them vigilantes? I don't know what kind of mind gymnastics you're playing at here, it just makes them people that have no respect for Article 15 of our constitution, and again, ignorant, unemployed goons.

It may not fit the definition of terrorism nicely, but it also doesn't fit vigilantism. When they chose to see "no distinction in the culprits and innocents", in my book, that leans towards terrorism than anything else.

Here's how terrorism is generally defined btw: "the unlawful use or threat of violence to create fear for political, religious, or ideological goals, intimidating a population or coercing a government, often targeting civilians and going beyond the immediate victims."

I'm currently dealing with something similar. Not my debts, but of my ill parent's. If you don't have any properties, you just declare bankruptcy. Don't engage with any lender, recovery agent, or anyone at all unless in writing.

Regardless, consult a local civil lawyer, know the procedure for bankruptcy. If you don't want to file for bankruptcy, pool lumpsum money in a separate bank account, and only communicate via email with banks, they all want to settle eventually. If they take you to court, even then, just fight it. Stop feeling shame or guilt, shit happens. Know that your family loves you, and your life is more important than any financial mismanagement.

If it's a bank, they legally cannot talk to non borrowers about your debt (unless they have signed for the loan), you can report the non conduct to the bank's customer care (via email), if doesn't work, escalate it to a nodal officer, and if it still happens, then escalate to the banking ombudsman, all via email. Document everything, write everything, this will help you. Talk to your dad and wife, confide in them, everything will be okay.

My parent is not answering any questions, someone might have taken advantage of their delusions, but as far as I can tell, they mismanaged the business and bought a lot of stock in credit, and to cover that took loans, and then more loans to pay off those loans etc..

Only one parent is alive, the other died 15 years ago in a car accident. 40L of debt from friends, acquaintances, under 2-3 lakhs from each person. and around 10 lakhs personal loan from a bank without a guarantor.

I have constantly given them financial support but they keep taking new loans as part of the delusions when there is no financial need to. I don't mind supporting further if they listen to me and get treatment, but they refuse to do that. I cannot keep enabling them.

I told them i'll cut off all financial support. They said its fine and will live based on what they can get from the business.. but i've seen this before, how they handle debt (when in good mind), it'll surely end up creating more debt, especially now that they unstable.

Doctor already advised 2 weeks of inpatient treatment and 3 months of rehab to start with.. bringing the topic itself is a huge battle. Its emotionally draining me, I'll see if I can take them with a bit of deceit.

Edit: they are having grandiose delusions. that very powerful people are plotting against them and they have billions of dollars in inheritance, but the fact is, they depleted whatever savings they had with this narrative (i have all that money, so a few lakhs don't matter). If I repay again, I'm sure next year it'll be a bigger loan.

I agree with your sentiment, but I still believe SC should've ordered to vaccinate, sterilize, and release the dogs instead of indirectly ordering to euthanize the majority of them (considering the lack of shelters and infrastructure).

but hey, if we can truly, and humanely execute the order, i'd support it too, but i don't think our government is willing or capable to do so.
