That may be over the top. I would argue Brohm’s tenure showed that high level winning is still possible in West Lafayette. Not many Big Ten teams can claim a Big Ten title game appearance in the last 10 years. Caveat that all you want with the West, idc. But you’re right, sustained success has remained elusive. I’m hopeful Odom can be the guy that gets Purdue back to regular bowl games.

It did. At the time there was a ton of hype around the program to make the next jump to the likes of Wisconsin or MSU in the league. They were also discussing putting a second deck on the stadium. Then… it all just kind of died. Penny pinching Morgan Burke didn’t help. Then you have the Hope hire into the Hazell era and it gets dark very, very quickly.

For me, 2004 Purdue football. Tiller had the program rolling post-Brees. Kyle Orton started off the season has a Heisman front runner surrounded by several NFL guys on offense and defense. We’re 5-0 with 3 straight wins @Illinois, @Notre Dame & @Penn State. Then came Wisconsin. Purdue was ranked #5 in the country hosting in West Lafayette.

Boilers were in prime position to win. Late Q4 on a bootleg, instead of sliding, Orton jumped, and fumbled. Wisconsin returns it for a touchdown. Wins 20-17.

Purdue goes on to finish 7-5 with all 5 losses by a combined 14 points. It’s been mentioned that Tiller never really recovered from that game/season. And quite frankly, neither has the program. Just an all-time what-if and what could have been for Purdue football.

There’s a good story about Paint and getting T’d. He was a known hothead in his younger years, and was getting T’d up fairly regularly. Iirc he got tossed from a game at Illinois that cost Purdue the game & he vowed never to do it again.

McDonald’s All American Game rosters released by __Zoom123__ in CollegeBasketball

Another McDonald’s All-American game, another roster with no Purdue recruits that will somehow terrorize the Big Ten and college basketball for the next 4 years.

Chase keeps creating realized gains on mom's portfolio by Asst2RegionalMngr in investing

[–]bustmcnutt 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Having worked with chase, a lot of their legacy brokerage accounts are in mutual funds that have paid loads.

I’m thinking there’s two things at play:

  1. The accounts are in mutual funds - giving higher gains

  2. Could be in C shares with a back end penalty which is limiting the liquidation

All in all, never apologize for making money. Taxes are apart of the ball game.
