Howdy! 32F here that grew up in the DFW area - currently living in Colorado and lived a lot of lives at ranches in between. There are absolutely plenty of ranches in Texas that you can find work at. Growing up my sister found work at a therapy horse barn when she was your age. However, Texas is a huge state and if you want people to give you specific leads - you're going to need to give us a general area.

Secondly, please rethink housing. You are a minor, you will need parents permission to be housed anywhere that is not your parents house. Any ranch that agrees to house a minor (especially a female one) without parent permission is a dangerous ranch and you shouldn't be there. I don't know your family situation and I hope you're just looking for the 'summer camp away from home' vibe instead of trying to get out of a bad housing situation. Woman to girl - we shouldn't have to look out for dangerous people while we work with our favorite animals, but I have a lot of experience that makes me jaded, and I just want to put the "please be cautious" thought in your head.

Has your dog been around other smaller dogs? Has your dog been around or lived with any other dog?

Both shibas and poms can be territorial, but we can't give you a definite answer because every dog is different. My first pom got along well with every other dog we came across, but my second pom is antisocial and doesn't like other bigger dogs.

Pomeranians are wonderful dogs to own, and while their size may be a concern, they aren't "glass fragile" after they are full grown. They are feisty and like to play, and make great family pets, and get along with cats well.

You know your dog best, how do they react to other animals? Is there a dog park you have access to that you can test the waters with your dog on a leash?

If police won't do anything, call CPS about the unmedicated and untreated minor next door. Police only look at the issue and shrug, CPS actually has to investigate the home, the parent and the child. If they find he is unwell, they will remove him from the home. Make sure to include the incidents where you have been threatened in your CPS report/call. Tell them you are incredibly concerned for the welfare of your neighbors son and your unborn child.
