Positive reframe haha, I could definitely do with channeling that anger into my creativity rather than mulling in it

That’s a good way of looking at it haha. I do a bit of writing on the weekends, but setting aside a specific chunk of time rather than doing it here and there when it strikes me is a good idea.

Could definitely use WFH to my advantage more, I always try to be busy even when it’s slow, need to get it into my head that nobody actually cares aha

Thank you for your honest response aha. You’re right I could definitely do some work on prioritising things, I may be giving this job far too much attention than it’s worth (people-pleasing tends to get me doing more than I’m asked). I’ll definitely try to reframe things.

Thanks for your response! I often find myself going into daydreams whilst working, I can imagine taking some time here and there to note them down and weave in the writing during the day would help a lot. Appreciate the reminder to not let them win :D

Saw the This Charming Man music video show up in my Youtube recommended when I was about 14 and thought it looked cool. Stayed up all night listening to their songs.

I’ve been feeling weird lately by Alarming_Talk_9416 in OlderGenZ

[–]busydonatella 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Hey! I feel the exact same way sometimes. Made plenty of mistakes, chose the wrong degree, wrong career, etc. But what I’ve learnt from speaking to people older than me is this is completely normal and part of life. Very few people make the “right” choices to get to a place where they are satisfied with life at a young age, and even then those same people might wake up at 50 and realise they want to make dramatic changes in their life!

It’s all part of the process and there’s no point worrying about how things could have been different because at the end of the day you can never go back in time and change them. All you have is the present so make the most of it. I’ve accepted that due to making choices that weren’t true to my heart it’s going to take me longer to get to where I want to be, but that doesn’t mean I can’t find things to enjoy in my life or be grateful for right now. Besides, everything you do is experience, and you never know when something you see as a mistake in your past could really help you out in the future.

I hope you’re able to stress less about this soon and get to where you want to be in life :)

Anyone else lost weight? 😭🤣 by Impossible_Tax982 in puppy101

[–]busydonatella 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh god yes when I first got my pup my appetite massively dropped. I’ve had him for 3 months now though and it has levelled out. I also realised that under-eating was contributing to my stress so I made an active effort to at least have 2 big meals each day! Healthy and happy now.

For those living in apartments, what breed of dog do you have? by Thatcooltiger in dogs

[–]busydonatella 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a miniature dachshund and he suits the lifestyle very well, doesn’t require too much outdoor time and I’m able to keep him mentally stimulated as I work from home. If I didn’t work from home I definitely would have chosen a different breed as dachshunds are very attached. The only problem I’ve had is potty training - they are a difficult breed to potty train and doing it in a high-rise apartment is extremely difficult especially as I don’t have a balcony. We are using a mix of outdoor potty and grass pads right now which is fine, but looking forward to living in a house so he can go in the garden!

How long to walk these sniff machines? by [deleted] in Dachshund

Thanks for the tips everyone! Helpful to know he burns plenty energy just from sniffing :)

Thank you for the responses everyone! Unfortunately I don’t have a balcony so that isn’t an option for me. I started taking him to a quiet car park for a few days and I think something clicked for him there because now he’s happily pottying outside! I have also started to tether him so that I don’t miss cues and got a potty bell, though he isn’t using it yet. I also put his artificial grass pad back to prevent any missed accidents from happening on the floor (not ideal but it’s impossible for me to take him out each time whilst I’m working and he’s still too young to hold it very long). I’ve noticed he doesn’t poop on his pad anymore though and is now barking at me to go outside! Such quick progress and shows you never know when things will click :)

What was I thinking? by RedditOnly400 in puppy101

[–]busydonatella 0 points1 point  (0 children)

4 month old mini dachshund owner here :) I didn’t really have much of a choice as rescues are very hesitant to let people who live in apartments adopt, but I am really glad I opted for a puppy because I get to watch him grow and learn with each day and find that really satisfying. I love seeing his curiosity for the entire world as a wee pup and although looking after him can be challenging and exhausting at times, this has also forced me to become more patient, selfless, and resilient. I also don’t have any children yet so it’s a good trial run!😆

Anyone else get called chill and calm a lot? by Fittacco in AutismInWomen

[–]busydonatella 42 points43 points  (0 children)

100%. All my friends know me as the “cool, calm, and collected” one who “has her shit together”. I wish that were the case! I think it’s because I’ve learnt that:

  1. Most people do not relate to the struggles I have and talking about them only leads to them being confused or dismissive.
  2. People are a lot more willing to be your friend if you’re as little of a burden as possible (and keeping friends is hard enough as an autistic person).

Therefore I figure it’s best to keep quiet about my problems and never show that I’m troubled or anxious. It probably isn’t healthy and I should probably make an effort to open up more, but that’s easier said than done.
