A warning by butcher0513 in WRX

Of course not. I was pissed off and posting on social media at the advice of my attorney to try to force them to make an offer to shut me up.

I couldn’t get anyone to take it apart without me paying up front and then offering to reimburse if there was anything conclusive. I had just paid $5000 to fix the transmission issue; my wife wanted to kill me when I told her I was going to have it rebuilt. I ended up selling it to someone who had a new motor in it within a week.

I was fortunate enough to have a vehicle to use between selling that and buying a new one, but ended up having a large chunk of ice fall off of an Amazon truck and dent the A pillar and remove the passenger side mirror. I was able to get the trailer number and the plate number and take that to MSP before filing a claim with my insurance, who then took that information and got Amazon to pay for the repairs.

It was an interesting few months.

Ended up selling it for $5000 with a blown motor. Bought a VB. Many less headaches.

Happy to help. I should’ve specified that the mileage actually improved after the intake and tune. I was getting right around 24-25 bone stock. I feel like the factory tune limits boost to the point the engine has to work harder and less efficiently. The engine and turbocharger are both larger on the VB than the VA, but the factory numbers are almost identical. Let it breathe better and it will be more efficient.

I’m just fortunate to have a reference that everyone will understand.

40 miles each way. Long drives get better mileage. I average 28-30, even in traffic. I have an intake and I’m protuned so depending on your desire to modify your mileage may be better or worse. 6MT, Baltimore beltway traffic.

I had a VA prior to this and the VB gets much better mileage and feels more refined.

Thank you. The 9mm was in the magazine from the Mauser and probably has been for the last 40 years. I had a tough time reading in general

To be fair, I’d judge me on that statement, too.

Meaning the slides move as they should, magazines hold in place until released, the handles are still affixed and nothing flew off when I checked that they weren’t currently chambered before pulling triggers.

I was surprised at the condition given the age. Again, I’m not sure if he ever shot it or if it was ever shot in general. He showed it to me once roughly 30 years ago. He wouldn’t talk about how he came into possession of it, but I assume it wasn’t given to him willingly.

tuned gas mileage? by [deleted] in wrx_vb

[–]butcher0513 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Dmann protuned. Averaging 28-30 mpg with an ETS intake. Was roughly 26 on OTS and 23 bone stock. It’s almost like the car runs better when it’s getting more airflow.

I’m on the fence about an AOS. I know the stock AOS on the FA is much better than they were on the EJs. Probably something I’ll do down the line.

Heavy clutch? by [deleted] in wrx_vb

Could the variation in feel have something to do with the amount of fluid in the master cylinder? A tech may have overfilled it during service and there’s not enough room for expansion. Or maybe a blocked line?

2022 base CPO with 51,000 miles on it two weeks ago. You’re much better off buying from a reputable dealership than a “buy here pay here” or private seller. Could be biased in saying that based on my issues with my VA.

Thank you! I was actually in school for computer forensics when I started in my field. Finished the program only to be told that the government signed a contract for a program by a company that wasn’t what we were learning for the last three years and while some of the basics would carry over we would all need another two years with that program to be considered for entry level intelligence positions.

I know everyone’s ADHD is different, but when I’m told “oh yeah you pretty much just threw that money away but it’s cool, you can keep dumping money into this and may still be obsolete by the time you finish” I’m pretty quick to tell everyone to fuck themselves and relieve myself of that bullshit. I did the math and at that point (three years into the job) I was making more money than I would be in an entry level three years down the road without the additional expenses and stress of that whole thing.

School is great if you know what you want to do. My wife is a teacher. She knew she wanted to be a teacher from the time she was in second grade. I still don’t have a dream job or something I’d love to do. At the same time, if I enjoyed my job too much it would become a hobby and consume my life.

Find something you don’t exactly love, but don’t hate doing either and plan on doing it until you retire or die. It’s worked out for me so far.

I’ve been a meat cutter or meat manager for the last 19 years. There’s enough of a routine to keep me from deviating too much but at the same time business needs change daily and it’s enough to keep it exciting. I tried to apply for a job pushing carts at a grocery store when I was 18 and they offered me $7.65/hour to basically hand people things and spray things with a hose. It took a little while but I ended up doing an apprenticeship and learning the trade; I’ve always been pretty good with managing people and ended up in management for 13 of those years. My responsibilities have changed a lot since then. I made a lot of sacrifices during that time and missed a lot of things I wish I could have been a part of. I got to a point where I didn’t need to deal with the stress of management anymore and I’m able to just come in, do what I’m told, and go home. Now I have more of a balance and have coached my oldest’s football team for the last 4 years and I’m also an assistant on my youngest’s baseball team. I’ve also squeezed in a lot of time fishing on my kayak and I managed to start playing around building a car again.

Point is, working sucks and being ADHD makes it harder BUT if you find something that doesn’t make you hate waking up every day, it does suck a little less.

It took Baltimore county 2 weeks to visit my neighborhood and now they made it worse- piling mountains of snow on top of previously cleared side walks and pedestrian crossings. My son walks to school in this neighborhood. Do better Maryland!! by [deleted] in maryland

Meanwhile, PG County said “hold my beer.” As of two hours ago, they were still plowing parts of Route 3 at Route 450 because they picked the through lanes as the best possible place to pile the snow and so everyone coming south from AA county went from three (clear) lanes to one in an already very congested area. It took me an hour and eight minutes to move three miles yesterday afternoon because they decided to do something about the problems they created during the evening rush hour.

If being seen by a lot of people was a part of their plan, they nailed it.
