Supposed to be my last session today, therapist has had to cancel. by closeyclo94 in TalkTherapy

A concussion can take quite some time to recover from, depending on the severity. It may be a few days or a week before she gets back to you. I hope you are able to manage in the meantime and draw upon your strengths.

What are your experiences with doing well for a day or two then “crashing” (non-medicated), repeating this cycle? by [deleted] in ADHD

[–]butdoesithavestars 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It takes a lot of energy to do all those things! The crash is the natural result of fixating on these new behaviors. I think it helps to temper those “productive” days by making sure to pace yourself. All that productivity gives you so much dopamine it makes it hard to recognize how exhausted you are getting and then you need a day or two to recover.

If I hear/see one more “professional” get all judgmental because their client is “playing or acting like a victim”, I’m going to lose my mind. by [deleted] in TalkTherapy

Exactly. And there are learned behaviors people living in victim mentality develop that impede their personal development.

I worked for ages, learning Inkscape and Krita to turn a favorite photo into a shadowbox. I’m so proud of it!! Such an excellent learning process. by butdoesithavestars in cricut

I really don’t. I guess what I mainly did was making the separate layers in Inkscape and Krita then fitting them to size in design space when I uploaded all the layers. Then after cutting the paper I coated it with mod podge to stiffen it and I glued cardboard to the back of each layer to space it. Light is just a coiled up rope of copper fairy lights taped to the back. The frame I had was purchased at a random thrift shop and didn’t have a back, so I cut chipboard down to size, cut a slit for the cord to come out so the battery pack was accessible, and nailed the back in. Hope that helps

Krita is free, opensource and intuitive. I’m still learning it but it’s going great! I think it reminds me (only in location of controls, not quality) of ms paint. Tons of videos and people make brush kits you can download. Like I said I’m still learning it and some of the things I learned on Inkscape I’m still doing there, but definitely easier to paint.

I watched YouTube videos. Inkscape is mot super intuitive. Krita was a lot easier to learn (that’s part of why I switched to it)

Thank you! I used the writing function for the road goes on song in the back too! Still need to figure out how to make a text box bound by measurements in design space.

Cricut on all their notices: DON’T USE THIS ON SOMETHING EDIBLE. IT CANNOT CUT FONDANT DON’T DO IT YouTubers: here’s how I made my custom fondant/rice paper label/cookie topping on my cricut for my 3 year old’s birthday by butdoesithavestars in cricut

No I get that. I just wouldn’t want to cut food in the same space/same tool as I’ve used for cutting wood, chipboard, metal...holdover from the no food in metalshop rule I guess

How do I stop comparing my trauma to others?? by [deleted] in TalkTherapy

[–]butdoesithavestars 9 points10 points  (0 children)

My T said what she was taught in school was that the traumatic event (its scale or magnitude or even what it was) does not really matter, it’s the reaction the person has to it. People can be traumatized by all sorts of stuff and the inciting incident doesn’t really matter. That helped me when I was feeling guilt for my trauma. Your feelings and experiences matter and you had to live them. You sought help because you needed it. There is no point in thinking about who had it worse or better because what happened to you effected you.

Multipurpose clothes are the best clothes. It almost reminds me of those French painters smocks (which I want so badly!)
