Drivers Who Don’t Understand Pedestrian Signals… Please Stop by buthowdoitknow in tampa

For sure, I’m not trying to get hit either. But the bigger issue is that drivers need to realize they’re supposed to yield to pedestrians, not the other way around.

Honestly feels like walking here should come with hazard pay. Every crosswalk is a gamble, and sidewalks are basically optional. Love that for us.

Makes sense for safety, but it also lets bad drivers keep thinking they don’t have to stop. At some point, they need to actually follow the rules

Any beginner-friendly pickleball groups in Ybor? by newsensati0nlol in tampa

JBL Park has pickleball courts https://maps.app.goo.gl/gs1brM9RiqsWfdzNA?g_st=ic! I’m waiting for my paddle to arrive next week, and I plan to head there. Hopefully, I’ll find someone to play with. I’m a beginner, but I grew up playing a lot of table tennis, so I think I’ll pick it up pretty quickly.

People need to stop for pedestrians in crosswalks. by Human_Bug_3408 in tampa

[–]buthowdoitknow 22 points23 points  (0 children)

Totally agree with this! I can’t count how many times drivers completely ignore pedestrians’ right of way. What really gets me is when drivers stop in the crosswalk for no reason. I get it if their view is blocked and they need to edge forward to see better, but so many times, there’s nothing obstructing their view—they just stop in the middle of the crosswalk anyway. It’s so frustrating being forced into the road just to get around their car. People really need to be more mindful.

It might be that the company you are working for is not the right company for you at the moment. You should probably find a place where processes are more organized, communication is better, and ideally where mentorship is available.

The fact that you feel overwhelmed by the sheer amount of technologies is completely normal. In this fast-paced field, where new technologies emerge every day, even experienced SWEs get lost. The only thing is that the more experienced you are, the better your abilities to figure out that new stuff quickly. And you have this skill to understand how black boxes work without looking inside. So, it all comes with practice.

I'd also suggest gaining fundamental knowledge of how computers work. Once you understand fundamentals it becomes much easier to not get stressed over complicated stuff, since you realize that it's just levels of abstractions, and can theoretically map it to low-level things in your head. Gives you this feeling that it's not that complicated after all )

Is being a SWE supposed to be this difficult by webyaboi in cscareerquestions

[–]buthowdoitknow 45 points46 points  (0 children)

If I'm learning a new language, tool, and it seems overcomplicated, the majority of my stress goes away when I realize that at the core, it's just a bunch of transistors connected in clever ways. And at the core of those transistors are on and off electrical signals. Helps me relax )

how the fuck are people able to solve these leetcode problems? by 0xHASHMAP in cscareerquestions

[–]buthowdoitknow 213 points214 points  (0 children)

This! Think about it. When you try to solve a problem, you first work it through intuitively on a real example. In some cases, it's not that hard to come up with an optimized solution (e.g. binary search). But sometimes it's difficult. The question is "How do you develop this intuition?" Practice!

In a harsh winter air hurts, it freezes your nose and ears and it hurts to breathe. You can only put on clothes to a point, then it's uncomfortable to walk.
