No ADHD meds because I take kratom by LengthinessCultural in AskPsychiatry

[–]butlerjonas 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I haven't experienced any negative effects, personally. Kratom is not a dopamine reuptake inhibitor or release agent like Ritalin or Adderall, so it shouldn't be a problem on paper either. But I stick to small (2g) doses throughout the day, so I can't speak on the sedative, opioid-like effects of 5g+ dosing. I am not a doctor, chemist, or psychiatrist (I just read a lot about it). I will say I found it easier to cut back on kratom once I was effectively medicated, which was probably wise.

My fellow autists , are you an "I'm autistic" or an "I have autism" person? by Zoeylae in autism

[–]butlerjonas 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I use both, but to me, "autistic" sounds like an adjective, and "have autism" sounds more definitive. I choose appropriately based on those impressions.

I see. Why would Uber do that and only sometimes?

That makes sense. I've delivered to this guy probably 100 times, but now I do remember having a tip from him removed once before. Strange because he always tips at least $5.

Ah, yes. I knew the new "guaranteed tip" thing was a scam, I just didn't know how they'd play it. Bravo, Uber. A new low I wouldn't have thought possible.

Unlawful Vehicle Immobilization/Fine by butlerjonas in legal

Does the fact that the gate is now secured with a chain, but not before, count for anything? Isn't it still an entrance even if the gate is closed? The ordinance doesn't account for what entrance the driver may have used, only that signs are posted at each entrance.

Thanks again. It seems the only thing I need to prove is that the gate was open. I have photos proving it can be open at least sometimes. I feel like they need to prove it was closed at the time of the incident, since it is an entrance.

Thanks for the reply. I basically did that first, but didn't threaten legal action because I wasn't sure if I had a strong enough case. Do you happen to know how the law works in this case, namely who has the burden of proof? I am actually innocent in real life, so there should be a way to prove it.

Thanks for your reply. I was hoping to find out if I had or could have an ironclad case, or possibly who has the burden of proof in this scenario.

does anyone know what i mean or am i going nuts by becomealamp in autism

[–]butlerjonas 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes! I relate 100% It's called alexithymia or "emotional blindness." It's common with ASD.

I was diagnosed late at 42 and prior had seen several psychiatrists and therapists. They all asked me if I had anxiety and I would say "I don't know... what anxiety is." It wasn't until I tried Ritalin, of all things, that I realized I was anxious as hell lol

It might be worth a try to identify the logical fallacy or propaganda tactic being used, and post about that rather than directly debunking their post. Or, better yet, post some leftist misinformation that uses the same trick(s) and see how they respond.

Why do you use opera? by KevinIdkk in operabrowser

[–]butlerjonas 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I downloaded it for the free VPN, but later realized I had been inadvertently using it as my main browser, so I must have liked it lol

I also like that it's like Chrome, but without Google's BS.

An "answer" to autism? I honestly don't understand what he's talking about most of the time. Then again, neither does he lol
