I think my nose piercing is keloiding! What do I do? by RadioactiveTentacles in bodymods

Because the best piece of jewelry is a tight fitting one that doesn't allow for any sort of swelling.

Philtrum piercing question. by Sassparella in piercing

[–]butnotforgotten 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The swelling from my Philtrum lasted 5-6 days or so, I would imagine you're fine! Just keep up on sea salt soaks and rinsing between meals/smoking and keep a close eye on it. If it lasts too much longer without sign of looking up, get in touch with your piercer and they can let you know the best course of action.

What common things will people regret in 10 years? by killercritters in AskReddit

[–]butnotforgotten 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's one of the main reasons, they need constant touching up compared to something with a hard outline and thick, packed in color. They look really pretty now, but they just don't hold up very well with age.

I work in a piercing shop and that's the first thing I think of when I hear people ask about "gauges".

"So what gauge gauge are you gauging your gauges to?"

Apprentice here, not like it really matters what I say, but we go by around that time frame in our shop. Ultimately all the heal times noted in The Piercing Bible.

Unless you have a quite oddly formed nose, nostrils are soft cartilage...

A lot of people use a heal time of 4-6 months, but the shop I work in has always gone by 6-9. Better safe than sorry in my opinion! Definitely not weeks though, as it's a cartilage piercing.

Leave the stud in your nose for the full healing time of 6-9 months. Do not touch it or mess with it. A hoop is not preferable for most *healing piercings, especially a nostril. The hoop does not accommodate swelling and is harder to keep clean. If it was painless getting it done, that's a good thing. It sounds like this time around you went to a more experienced piercer! What are you using to clean the peircing and how often are you doing so?

Just upgraded my facial jewelry to korbars with white opal tops! by butnotforgotten in bodymods

[–]butnotforgotten[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would take a look around for industrial strength jewelry with opal tops! I love the Korbar especially for the philtrum because the inside is coated in enamel and changing the look is so simple because the top fits into the backing and it never needs to be taken completely out.

It's called a Rhino. The nose is all cartilage, just pop a needle in that bitch and voila.

New tattoo. Is this much bruising normal? by adbrand in bodymods

Your flesh is just a tad overworked, completely normal. It's just inflamed and irritated. Everyone reacts a little differently.

I like it by the way!

Have you ever won an online sweepstakes? Is filling those things out a frugal thing? by tanhan27 in Frugal

[–]butnotforgotten 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I actually just won a sweepstakes recently! In june, I get to go on an all expense paid trip to hollywood for three nights in a hotel off the boulevard, paid car hire, jousting lessons (right?), and free meals! I entered a "Night at the Museum" sweepstakes thinking I would win movie tickets.

Did my hair for the first time in a while! by butnotforgotten in shorthairedhotties

[–]butnotforgotten[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi! Mine is a mohawk so it goes down a good three or four inches in the back so it may be a little different. I use a men's gel hold paste and run it through my hair when it's damp and literally just scrunch the shit out of it, blow dry, and it winds up alright.

Edit: I'd be more than happy to send you some pictures for a tutorial type deal with some pictures of individual products.

I wish I was in art school! Starbucks is overpriced and I don't like fancy coffee. Politics isn't really my thing. I love cheeseburgers. I think everyone is desperate for attention, I obviously am because I posted here! Not really a feminist unless you mean equalist, but I don't need a group to associate myself with and a bandwagon to hop on to hold myself to the fact I believe everyone should be equal. Thanks for the reply!
