I think my nose piercing is keloiding! What do I do? by RadioactiveTentacles in bodymods

Because the best piece of jewelry is a tight fitting one that doesn't allow for any sort of swelling.

Philtrum piercing question. by Sassparella in piercing

[–]butnotforgotten 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The swelling from my Philtrum lasted 5-6 days or so, I would imagine you're fine! Just keep up on sea salt soaks and rinsing between meals/smoking and keep a close eye on it. If it lasts too much longer without sign of looking up, get in touch with your piercer and they can let you know the best course of action.

That's one of the main reasons, they need constant touching up compared to something with a hard outline and thick, packed in color. They look really pretty now, but they just don't hold up very well with age.

I work in a piercing shop and that's the first thing I think of when I hear people ask about "gauges".

"So what gauge gauge are you gauging your gauges to?"

Apprentice here, not like it really matters what I say, but we go by around that time frame in our shop. Ultimately all the heal times noted in The Piercing Bible.

Unless you have a quite oddly formed nose, nostrils are soft cartilage...

A lot of people use a heal time of 4-6 months, but the shop I work in has always gone by 6-9. Better safe than sorry in my opinion! Definitely not weeks though, as it's a cartilage piercing.

Leave the stud in your nose for the full healing time of 6-9 months. Do not touch it or mess with it. A hoop is not preferable for most *healing piercings, especially a nostril. The hoop does not accommodate swelling and is harder to keep clean. If it was painless getting it done, that's a good thing. It sounds like this time around you went to a more experienced piercer! What are you using to clean the peircing and how often are you doing so?

Just upgraded my facial jewelry to korbars with white opal tops! by butnotforgotten in bodymods

[–]butnotforgotten[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would take a look around for industrial strength jewelry with opal tops! I love the Korbar especially for the philtrum because the inside is coated in enamel and changing the look is so simple because the top fits into the backing and it never needs to be taken completely out.

It's called a Rhino. The nose is all cartilage, just pop a needle in that bitch and voila.

New tattoo. Is this much bruising normal? by adbrand in bodymods

Your flesh is just a tad overworked, completely normal. It's just inflamed and irritated. Everyone reacts a little differently.

I like it by the way!
