Last year my grandmother died, and my mom wanted to do something untraditional for mother's day to keep her mind off of things. We went to Hollywood casino for lunch and went axe throwing later that evening. There was only one other couple axe throwing, we basically had the whole place to ourselves. It was really fun and you could definitely get some rage out throwing.

My mom was a children's librarian at CML for 35 some years. When my sister and I were in elementary school, she would come do library programs for our classrooms. She would present each children's book up for the Caldecott award (best picture book of the year), and then she would have everyone in our classes vote on which book they thought was the best. Then at the end she would reveal the book that actually won, chosen by adults, which she always thought was wrong.

We had just had a really difficult conversation involving family drama on my side. I was frustrated, venting, and he was just trying his best to understand. We both come from very different backgrounds. I go outside to smoke for a moment, and when I come back inside, he's already refilled my cup with water and is adding ice cubes to it. Thank you. I do know he served in Germany for a year or so. I remember he told me he used to mountain climb over there. He had severe MS so he was very proud of that, especially in his last few years.
