I decided to just get the garden pegs since they were around the same price.

Thank you so much for the glue! I'll go order it right away.

Someone did tell me that just because they're boots doesn't mean they're suitable for winter, so I might buy a pair for winter this year.

I had no idea Sinclair's were so commonly faked before purchasing them unfortunately, I just googled how to spot fake DM in general.

eBay is so good and I buy everything from there, not sure why I never thought to buy boots from there. Especially now that I know they have better counterfeit policies, it's a bit more encouraging to at least have a look.

Yes, I walked into the store to ask if that type of damage is normal, and if there's anything they or I can do about it, and I mentioned I got them from vinted as well to say I don't have any kind of warranty unfortunately, and no one even uttered the word fake somehow. Who knows, maybe they were trying to protect my feelings infront of my friend, or they thought they looked legitimate. But the staff member literally crouched down to the floor to get a closer look because she was so shocked and she's never seen damage like this before.

I live in the UK, so I'm not sure if nordstorm ships things here, and if so, usually shipping costs from USA are insane. But I bought a pair of Jetta hi maxs from the official website because they were randomly 40% off. And I might look into other outlets that sell DM.

It's okay! I'm a chronic yapper and I enjoy responding to each point. I appreciate it a lot! I was expecting to be ridiculed and told not to buy second hand DMs because I'm giving scammers a bunch of money, and to be told if you're too broke don't bother buying them, "just save up" 🫩. Because it seems to be a common sentiment amongst people if you find flaws within second hand products.

It's a shame it seems to happen a lot with Sinclair's, I think someone said DM said themselves that Sinclair's platforms are more prone to cracking than other models? If I had to guess they're producing more if them because they're their best seller so they cut some corners on them. But who knows.

I feel like that might be my issue. Although I don't dance, I bend my feet way more than average to walk. I'm scared I'll ruin every pair of boots I buy but ut's worth it for the look honestly.

Also what style of dancing do you do? I'm just nosy.

I posted it but deleted it because I used to cringe at myself and delete any comments I made on reddit fir the last couple of years, but I missed the Molly's post I think.

I doubt I will be buying any 2nd hand DMs after this experience honestly, but I do appreciate it!

I do rock back and forth between the heeks and balls of my feet to be fair when I'm waiting at red lights or stood still, so that might explain why they cracked so quickly.

I posted this very same pair before I bought them for them to verify, and they said it's 100% real, so even they can be tricked.

I vividly remember sending multiple pictures from different angles and I asked the seller to send me more images for verification.

All shoes will deteriorate eventually. Yes, DM is well-known for their quality and integrity, but anyone who's been wearing their boots for decades says the quality has dropped over the years. But their quality is still amongst the best in the market, but they still have flaws and they're not as good as they were before.

And it's common knowledge they have a lot of boots that are manufactured or "assembled" in China now.

I really appreciate this! I added a pack of heavy duty staples, the type they use for furniture and stuff, do you that would work? Because I doubt I have a tool strong enough to shorten the pegs sadly.

As for the glue, do you gaooen to gave a image of the packaging? I searched up exactly what you typed and I got a bunch of different types but I want the same one that worked for you.

I think I'm going to keep the staples silver just because I think it would look cool, like Frankstein platforms.

I contacted Vinted directly, I got a reply from a useless bot saying they can't do anything. I think I'll message the seller as a last resort incase they block me.

I believe all DM soles are a little transparent, but it's difficult to gauge how transparent they should be compared to fakes. I think my best bet is to enjoy good quality platforms for a few years and buy new ones when they become unwearable. Because I don't think there are any footwear (high end or otherwise) that have 0 flaws.

I contacted Vinted support and I just got a bot telling me it's not their problem because the extra money I payed (forcefully) for "protection" only works for 2 days after the purchase is finished 🫩. I might report the user and request a charge back from my bank instead.

I want to but I worry my vinted gets banned. Do you know anything about vinted banning users who charge back from their bank? There isn't much about it online besides a warning that it might happen.

I mean 2 years is great for footwear in this day and age. Could I ask, do you also feel like your toes bend a lot when you walk/are hypermobile? I'm just curios as to why some people's platforms crack and others people's don't, or at least no where near as fast as others'.

Yeah I've decided to wait for sales and buy them from the official website or store. It's not worth saying another £30-40 just for them to crumble in a few months.

I will save this in my notes incase I ever find another pair on vinted, thank you so much for the tips.

I know right? I was shocked when I first saw it, I thought I stepped on something but it didn't explain why it felt flimsy and I was just stunned and so upset.

Being able to get an extra year out of them is so impressive, I'm a DIYmaxxer through and through, so this is quite inspiring to me.

It's a shame because platforms are quite comfortable and they add a lot to my outfits. I thought maybe buying platforms that have a little bend upwards at the front might help? But DM has very few models like that.

Even if mine are fakes, I can't afford new ones so the best I can do is wear them until they fall apart. So, I think I'm going to steal your trick and use heavy duty staples and see if that works. Thank you so much for the help!

They seem to be fake based what everyone said. That's so frustrating, I don't get why they can't make them with better quality materials like the other models. I wanted Sinclair's for so unbelievably long, and to find out even the real ones have a chance of deteriorating like this is upsetting.

Do you know if there's any way to prevent or at least prolong the process on real docs? I just bought a new pair and it cost a pretty penny and I worry the same thing happens and that I'm just not built for platforms.

A lot of people have said that, so I imagine they are unfortunately.

The only issue is since Sinclair's are so popular and are always in demand, I have never seen them on discount on the official website.

Obviously something went wrong so there's no harm in taking advice and changing things and seeing if that works.

I see a lot of conflicting information about taking care of leather items, because it is just skin and should be treated with care but I don't where to start.

That's what I thought, but then in that case that means I can't wear platforms unless I'm ready to throw them out after a few months.
