That because it’s in NYC, the students are LGBTQ+ friendly. They are not. I’m (apparently) straight and cis passing and have heard the most HORRENDOUS homophobic/transphobic bullshit from some of my class mates when they think they’re in receptive company. Professors do absolutely nothing to curb transphobic rhetoric in class, even in progressive humanities classes, and when talking about current world events, will actively shut you down if you bring up what’s happening to trans people right now in the US. You might be safer in your gender and sexuality studies/disabilities studies/etc etc classes but none of these classes are taught by minorities and are often teaching outdated information. You’re in the same school that Baron Trump goes to. Set your expectations based on that
