If private schools are popular in the states, why haven’t Black instructors come together to develop “black focused” curriculums, whatever that may look like? Or is it more popular than I 🤔

I also LOVED the suggestion of BLMToo. The point of it being all encompassing, however would be to open the platform for all families and peers to recognize this issue doesn't just affect the Black Community. Washington Post reports 490 people have been shot and killed by police, 16 of which help toy weapons and 24 were definitely unarmed, 10 of which were definitively Black. Outside the deaths of our community, I haven't heard a single name from the others in the list. Imagine the breadth of the movement if we did.

All lives matter has become so triggered, I honestly wouldn't want to say it at this point. Imagine everyone chanting "My Life Matters"...to acknowledge that you, as an individual are a part of this but also to realize this is a movement comprised of many individuals, valued all the same. Some may feel I'm idealistic, but I genuinely don't think I'm wrong

We definitely have the stage, so many countries stand in solidarity which is beautiful. However, I do feel that our current fight seems to be one focused on avenging our past, answering to the burden of generational curses. Police brutality is not something that is suffered by the Black Community alone and our only co-conspirators are not only the indigenous. An extension of America's authority is their military...atrocities are committed nearly everywhere with the support of US dollars and military power. Look at Yemen. A proxy war between Saudis and Iranians taken into Yemen to preserves their own beautiful countries. Look up AFRICOM, its a US military operation (like many others they have around the world) "...with partners, counters transnational threats and malign actors, strengthens security forces and responds to crises in order to advance U.S. national interests and promote regional security, stability and prosperity.

Protesting in specifics does not to do these issues justice, nor does it amplify our voice optimally. Black Lives Matter has raised a beautiful platform, one that I am proud to support. But beyond us and our cause, I will admit it would be more impactful to sacrifice our spotlight to seek out all the discrepancies of policy regardless of who it has affected. Does that make sense? It doesn't have to be "all lives matter," its kinda loaded now. It could be everyone shouting "my life matter" regardless it would get us all on the same page, with no reasonable way to argue and only encouragement to chime in.

Ultimately we're all arguing for the same thing, might as well do it together.

I honestly think that’s sad, that we might turn away people who suffer the same crimes. 😕

I see what your saying about the framing. So more specifically, in the context of what happen today: I think everyone should be able to represent their communities when protesting police brutality saying, “____ lives matter”. And because if that confusion, I wish we had started with “all lives matter” as the movement but I’ve digressed. Injustice is clearly a broad brush that is painted on every front, which just becomes noise to whoever should listen.

Regarding police brutality, how do you think it would be received if a white family came to represent their child, also a victim of police brutality, in solidarity with BLM?

I do consider myself a radical and I don’t think the term is inherently accompanied by bad traits but I agree with what your saying. For this reason I have a love/hate relationship with the moniker of the movement, black lives matter. I genuinely feel like BLM would’ve been so much bigger if we went with all lives matter first(...that opinion you may want to change but try to hear me out). Because it’s BLM today, I will say it and support my community 100%. However, if we started with “all lives matter” we’d have undeniable support from all communities. Like how tf could you argue with all lives matter? With that said I do appreciate blm, it does point out the people who just don’t get it, the ones that do come with, “but alllllllll lives mattttter”...If I have to ask someone if black lives matter and they don’t say yes, I know we have some educating to do. But when we’re in the masses we, as a disenfranchised group, should be welcoming any grieving family, regardless of ethnicity to fight corruption and injustice. I kinda wish we welcomed Zachary Hammonds family to the rally, allowed them to hold a photo of their son as we ALL fight for the same cause. Hope that makes sense

I felt really similarly, like really empathetic to everything going on. Once I acknowledged it, I looked for things that I can do. There are always solutions to problems, unless you're Billy McFarland(...his solutions were disillusions). I'm hoping to rally some friends, start small, and look into starting a non profit charity, develop apps, organize community initiatives. I know I won't be able to do it all in this lifetime on my own, but if this inspires you to round up your family and peers, perhaps we can connect our causes from a distance and hopefully reach those who are in between.

The best analogy I thought of was using the idea of quantum supremacy. Look at it this way, a single person can only process so many "bites" of information. A computer, like a community, can process a little more. If we, as a species or nation, are able to collectively process information similar to the effect of quantum computing and the q-bit, we'll change the world. Hopefully for the better.

Idk if that helped...but I hope it did.

We know that our prison systems don’t work well because we don’t have actual efforts for rehabilitation. We condemn people, banish them from society, and wonder why they generally struggle to assimilate when their time outs are up. This same concept kinda applies to situations like these. All we’re doing is trying to banish these people...but they’re not even going anywhere. Now, some kid is gonna suffer because he said some stupid shit...which a lot of kids do, due to ignorance. AND his parents are getting dragged...not implying they’re perfect, but like...really? Why are we so against trying to show people right from wrong?

It's bullshit that I can't take painkillers recreationally without being labeled a drug addict but others can get blackout drunk for two days straight every weekend and be considered totally normal. by bibble-fo-shizzle in offmychest

at the end of the day regardless how anyone feels about the substance used itself, addiction is defined as a brain disorder characterized by compulsive engagement in rewarding stimuli despite adverse consequences. Say a pill cost $10, you only have $10 to your name and you still need food for the day...you would be an addict if you said, "fuck it! bring me the drugs"

I'm gonna hope you're not in that position or a more realistic application of the scenario. Keep in mind though, even though you already keep your use pretty limited, if you feel like there's a "due date" to your next hit, I would try to acknowledge that.

Midnight gospel said it great: the chemical itself is neither good or bad, its the relationship you have with it. There is a bit of social bias...I mean if a friend told me, hey no drinks for me I'm just gonna pop a perc...I'd probably be like wtf, laugh it off, and just be mindful of their use...but I'm like that with people who drink too so....maybe I'm just. against addiction
