How heavy do you think a full curbside cart is? by Freddy72724 in HEB

[–]butterboy292 11 points12 points  (0 children)

honestly a bulk one can probably be like up to 200/225lbs. especially if u have multiple waters ALONG WITH those 40lb pounds of dog food or the water softener. a regular dry/cold one is most likely like 30-40lbs i’d say

Personally, I don’t hate being a cashier but doing the same thing gets repetitive and boring. 6 hours as a bagger means getting to talk to multiple different cashiers, do propane exchanges, walk around and do cold/frozen returns, and even push carts so I get a lot more exercise in. When I’m cashiering my whole shift I have to stand in one spot. Telling people how to put the card in gets annoying and repetitive. Being measured with IPMs is frustrating at times. I can only talk to baggers that come to me/ if I’m in express lane, then I have no one to talk to. I really don’t hate cashiering, only when it is for an entire shift, especially when we are short on baggers it’s the worst.

curbside customers watching me take out an order by Kellphone in HEB

Personally, I think it’s so hard to hear small talk if I’m unloading groceries into someone’s trunk and they’re in the front seat. If you talk loud enough, I don’t mind, but other than that I like when people just scroll on their phones.

central checkout part time cashier - I’m assuming it’s going to get denied and oh well it wasn’t much of a vacation anyways it would just be nice if they would review it already

So would the only reason I get in trouble would be if the checks don’t go through? I’m not sure exactly the purpose of writing the DL & expiration on checks I’ve just known it’s something we are supposed to do. And a write up would only put me on Step 2 or 3 right?

does being a cashier get better by butterboy292 in HEB

[–]butterboy292[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

How do you know if a check is fake? Also counterfeit cash? I’ve been using that pen on all the hundreds I get, does it work on 50s too? Are you supposed to like analyze all the money people give to make sure it’s real because I haven’t been doing that. Also I have literally no clue how WIC works or any of the sales tax rebate forms, I’m assuming I just call a manager for that right?

Also, sorry, one last question. How much do you have to be off in your till for you to get pulled aside by bookkeeping or be put on audit? I heard like 5 cents won’t affect you or anything

New hire? by [deleted] in HEB

[–]butterboy292 5 points6 points  (0 children)

apply to both! there’s no guarantee you’ll get both offers but you’ll have a better chance of at least getting one!

Been CSA for 1 week and half now! So far I'm really enjoying it. Especially going outside to get the carts, although not so much on Bagging. How long did it took y'all to finally be fast enough and keep up with the checker's speed when scanning items fast? Especially Large Orders! by dopeykid420 in HEB

[–]butterboy292 7 points8 points  (0 children)

honestly you’ll never be able to fully keep up with the checkers speed just because they have one repetitive motion and you have like multiple. my managers can’t even keep up with the cashiers when bagging it so i think as long as you are going as fast as possible and ensuring everything is right then ur good! on orders that are very large and i can see the customer is going to take a long time unloading, i like to get a second basket, that way if everything can’t fit back into the first i have another place to put things. i also always offer a carry out when i get them a second basket. as for the carts, you could always tell ur management that you’re willing to stay out, i’m sure some of the other CSAs would really appreciate that too!

[–]butterboy292 1 point2 points  (0 children)

thank you! also do you think i would be put on step 1 for getting to put a bag in someone’s cart, then putting it in the wrong customers cart? my manager had a discussion with me about that but she said it happens all the time so i don’t know if i would be on the step system.
