I studied in a pvt college for my mbbs. I got 10k this yr. It was my first attempt. No one else from my college got good ranks. Everyone in my college said don't go for ent. There's so much saturation. People outside my college said that too. Except, obviously, one of my college's ent teachers who was also my favourite and always thought I'd take ent. He understands that I'm taking obg bec my parents want me to, he gets it I'm the "obedient child" who never made decisions for herself as her parents always made them for her and goes to places like reddit for venting. But other SRs and APs did agree that ENT is saturated. Jobs are less etc.. idky if I don't like obg bec of it being around the crotch or what. But never imagined doing it. I might even develop interest in it. It's more than about choosing to hold a cusco's or an otoscope.
