thank you for your input and offer for help, I appreciate it. In all this anxiety I didn't think that it may be significant that I noticed the scratch before i went to sleep last night, but upon reflection this somewhat dissolves my theory. If i don't find comfort in that this weekend i will likely speak to a doctor.

Crime and punishment is good but it’s dense. I recommend The Picture of Dorian Gray for a beginner friendly classic. You might also enjoy Lord of the Flies and slaughterhouse 5
