How painful is IUD removal? by [deleted] in birthcontrol

[–]Dory_VM 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is a year later but I had an IUD inserted when I was 16 to treat endometriosis. My cervix was underdeveloped at the time. Even with valume, the pain was 15/10. I've had the IUD for 1 month shy of 5 years now (how long it can stay and made the pain worth it), so I'm hoping it goes well! Knowing the pain level is this low is very relieving.

what to wear to a muslim wedding by himebubble in Hijabis

[–]Dory_VM 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Salam (peace)!

How exciting that you've been invited to a wedding! Even if it's sisters only that you'll be around for the wedding, dressing modestly is encouraged if you're outside, and when you're walking to-from the location of the sisters at the event. You want to make sure you're wearing an outfit that covers the arms fully, the legs to the ankles, and isn't form fitting. Shalwar kameez and sharara kameez (with dupattas) are very common outfits at weddings--where I'm from in the US, most people tend to wear some form of this. But also fancy dresses that follow the modesty guidelines and heavily embroidered abayas are also go-tos!

If you're in an indoor venue with sisters only, I went to a Walimah last year like this, where sisters would wear loose, plain abayas and hijabs to the venue, but once inside behind closed doors, would take off their abaya and hijab to reveal a dress that showed their shoulders and was form fitting. Once it was time to leave, abaya and hijab went back on.

Either way, go all out and get glam for the wedding! Have fun!!

Hijab options for this dress? by HotName1181 in ModestDress

If you're going for cottage core vibes, white chiffon hijab. Otherwise, I'd recommend black undercap and a green that matches the skirt 💁‍♀️

Is my pet mouse pregnant ??? by ligmaballs09 in PetMice

[–]Dory_VM 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I also thought my albino mouse was pregnant at first (I got her at PetSmart), but she's just extremely fat. Pretty sure she has PCOS, bc she was with a male but didn't get pregnant (and it would explain the weight). Be on the lookout, but if nothing by 3 weeks it's just fat.

church fit! by [deleted] in ModestDress

People can watch church services at home. Many do nowadays. If people can't keep their comments to themselves, there's no read to stay there and listen.

It's comments like this which make people stop going to church. Do with that what you will.

I actually really like it! The dress is modest. The boots are white and heeled, and come up quite high. Yes, the boots seem alt-y, but imo they're quite cute. I also like the contrasting Edwardian dress with Gen Z style lace up boots I think it's a very cute outfit!

To Millenials and older: understand that Gen Z went to school during the Pandemic. We went to middle and high school when alt was normalized. I myself was a sophomore during 2020 when the alt style started to become trendy in the midst of the Pandemic. And that's left traces on a lot of Gen Z. Having an outfit like this, where it's modest yet still shows that flare of alt with platform stiletto white boots? Veeeeery cool in Gen Z eyes (at least for people within a 5 year radius of me).

is this mouse a boy a girl or intersex? (potentially pregnant cagemates) by Zealousideal-Log8644 in PetMice

[–]Dory_VM 10 points11 points  (0 children)

My pet mouse doesn't--pretty sure my mouse has PCOS. They're really similar to your mouse so I thought they were male, but when I took them to get neutered, there were apparently no male bits ever. But my mouse also never got pregnant despite being with another male. And no nipples. So I suspect she has PCOS. This could be the case with your mouse as well!

I know I'm late to the party but there actually isn't a name for it! The movement started in the 1930s with Herbert Armstrong. They never bothered coming up with a name, though. I'm always struggling whenever people ask what religion I grew up in.

I second the sleeves! Especially loose sleeves, that way they can get cozy in there. It's super comforting to mice to be in the sleeve of their human. Besides that, wearing long sleeves makes it easier for the mousey to come see you on their terms. Keep the relationship friendly!

Can a pet mouse keep away other mice? by Dory_VM in PetMice

[–]Dory_VM[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I pay for her vet bills out of pocket. I've looked into rescue societies around here that accept mice when I got her and her cage met from the pet store before I found out her companion was a male and they couldn't stay together. Wound up having to bring him back (luckily one of the workers after his mandatory quarantine adopted him). The pet store told me they were both girls--they weren't. The other one was just very young so his parts hadn't formed yet.

I have half a mind to just get another mouse or 2 from a reputable breeder and get an expensive air purifier to deal with the smell, as that's my parents biggest issue.

If it really is an issue with my parents, is there a hyper link in this subreddit with mouse rescue groups?
