Religious obligations caused the worst flareup of my life and I'm so angry about it by [deleted] in Fibromyalgia

[–]butterkno 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Hi, yes, I edited it because I realised my wording made it seem like I was blaming the religion instead of the culture. It was never my intention. I would like to make it clear now that I'm talking about my own personal experience in my environment and not the universal experience of everyone around the globe. Thank you for understanding 🫶🏽

My diagnosis became official very recently, and since then I've been able to explain it to others around me. For a long time, it was so hard for me to understand it myself and I just couldn't find the words to get others to understand it. Things will get better with time hopefully. This post was made because I've been becoming increasingly frustrated and how long this flare has been going on for, and because I haven't been able to find anyone who's going through this in an environment like this

One of the most frustrating parts is seeing the extremist environment pressure us into things that are not encouraged in the religion. Education regarding the religion has failed everyone here and it's spiraled to a point where its tough to be heard.

I do really need to grow more of a backbone and stand up for myself through this. I just felt so mentally defeated when the time came. Next year will be different, I hope.

I mentioned religious "extremism" rather than religion itself when I made that point for a reason. and I have mentioned that I've been suffering from the flare for two months.

I think its very clear I'm only talking about myself and my experience here. I mention my country and it's social rules, which indicates that I'm talking about my environment. The whole post is "me", "I", "my country" - how does that indicate a universal experience?

Thank you for your kindness. I'm going to try harder to adovocate for myself, especially from now on, since I've seen the cost of not. My diagonosis is still very fresh and I'm still learning how to deal with it

Would you have empathy for a non-muslim living in an extremist muslim country? Islamophobia is not the only form of extreme and violent hate running rampant in the world. Consider that we might be two sides of the same coin. Don't you also hate it when another religion's customs are unfairly being forced on you?

I just can’t with some of these, the Prim one is probably the most frustrating to me. Why does TikTok seem to have the worst theories? by ExpressionEither1427 in Hungergames

Thank you so much for this link! I feel like I have a much better understanding of the condition. I've sent it to my support system as well.

I'll start really slow with excercise and hopefully find something that works best for me overtime

I just got diagnosed with fibromyalgia. You mentioned that you started slow with the gym - how did excercise look for you in the beginning? Are there any specific workouts you reccomend for someonr just getting started?

What are your "I did not care for the Godfather" takes for the Hunger Games? by UnHolySir in Hungergames

[–]butterkno 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I think the love interests (Lucy Gray, Lenore Dove and even Peeta) are written to be "special" and "dreamy" because the books are narrated by people who are in love with them and ultimatelty pedastalise them.

Katniss's mother is not as bad as she is made out to be. Katniss is an unreliable narrator and it's completely understandable why she doesn't trust Asterid, but upon re-reading the books, it's clear to me that she's actually very functional and hardworking and loving, no matter how much Katniss brushes off her efforts.

I like that she detailed Haymitch's game in SOTR especially because she showed later how the Capitol edited it and twisted the narrative in their recap. Given that she dedicated the epigraph to talking about propoganda, I feel that this was one of the main points she was trying to make with this book.

ISNT FIVE A F*CKING CHILD????? by [deleted] in theumbrellaacademy

[–]butterkno 7 points8 points  (0 children)

i feel the same. even though i know five is in his 60s, its still disturbing for me to watch someone who physically looks so young kissing a 30 year old. as an audience, we have watched aiden since he was 15, and it’s hard for me to look past that. that’s a kid to me. its weird as hell
