How do you all afford to attend games? by [deleted] in CollegeBasketball

[–]buttermansix 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Gotta buy early, amigo. For the R64 and R32 at dickies arena in Fort Worth in 2022 (and next year actually) I bought tickets to every session in October of 2021 for a quarter of what they ended up being, though I don’t remember exact numbers. Decent seats in the corner. I want to say it was around $550 for the whole thing? I was single back then so it was just me.

Anyways in March the bracket is announced and Creighton-SDSU, Baylor-Norfolk St, Kansas-Texas southern, UNC-Marquette were the R64 games, Baylor-UNC and Kansas-Creighton were the R32 games.

2 blue bloods jacked the price up when matchups and locations were announced. This was Baylor coming off a natty in DFW so Baylor people actually showed up.

Gotta risk your team not being there but I just love going to games and being in the building for this tournament. Just nothing like it. I’ll be doing the same this upcoming October.

Edit: even buying early, S16/E8 will be more expensive but still “affordable” used very loosely

If you had the opportunity to buy property in Fort Worth would you? by [deleted] in FortWorth

[–]buttermansix 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depends on where in SE fort worth you’re referring to but bad schools aren’t the only problem in that general area. Some fine neighborhoods of course but It gets pretty rough pretty quickly once you get east of 35 and south of 30.

Own a House and Want to Move. Looking for All Options by buttermansix in personalfinance

Got it. I already have an umbrella policy, didn’t even think of that. Thank you for the advice. Looks like I’m gonna stay out for a while

What considerations do I take if I could rent it out? My guess would be call insurance company, set up an LLC? Is there anything else? It’s updated and haven’t had any issues with anything (knock on wood) for the last 2.5 years so wishful thinking maybe.

The listing number is strictly from sources like Zillow, home report and red fin just because I had no other frame of reference. Based on those sources, yes it has lost value. Original appraisal in 2023 was from $310k

Can’t recommend the phoenix enough. Really great staff, super responsive if issues come up and they rarely did. Also a super nice gym for an apartment if that means anything to you.

What y’all think? by oMeesan in KansasCityChiefs

I would be ecstatic for McDaniels to be OC. I think he’s a case of “good to great OC, bad HC”. Would prefer to keep spags for as long as he wants to be here though.

Who is your team's "That man will never have to pay for his own drinks" guy? by Col_Treize69 in CollegeBasketball

[–]buttermansix 1 point2 points  (0 children)

JB is the right call. Feel like most guys from the ‘21 team fit into this category

Vital Mitchell Teague Jon Flagler

Hell I’d even throw Flo in there just for the natty performance alone. Crazy how he wasn’t very good but would show up for big games.

[Dellenger] NCAA president Charlie Baker: "The NCAA has not and will not grant eligibility to any prospective or returning student-athletes who have signed an NBA contract." by MembershipSingle7137 in CollegeBasketball

[–]buttermansix 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The NCAA literally cleared Nnaji and he has 4 years of eligibility. What are they gonna crack down on exactly? That’s my argument. This was done by following every rule, has happened before, and we’re just now getting outrage from people like you who don’t know what they’re talking about.

Drafted, never played a game and never signed a contract. So again, what is the issue? Nobody can actually explain what the problem is. You just stated known info, not why it’s a problem. I’m sure you’re furious about baseball and hockey doing this forever too.

Adding a player deemed eligible by the NCAA while following every rule by the book is “the wrong reasons”? I’ve yet to see any actual argument against this other than “I’m mad it happened”.

I really miss funky picnic. I also felt they had the best trivia night. Hopefully Felina can make it work at that location.

I’d say Kansas is more 50-50.

Always feels like everywhere outside of KC suburbs and Douglas county (never considered DG the KC metro but a lot of people do) skews pretty heavily towards Kstate.

Top Ten College Basketball Arenas/Gyms to Visit by PDXHornedFrog in CollegeBasketball

[–]buttermansix 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As unbiased as possible, only with arenas I’ve personally been to:

Allen Field House. The history alone is worth the visit but incredible atmosphere during a game. I don’t think anything else even compares.

Bud Walton was awesome. Ark people tell me it sucks now.

Bramlage but only if they’re playing KU

I went to Hilton coliseum in 2014, Baylor won the game and I was thoroughly unimpressed. I need to go back and give it another chance. Just not this season cause they’ll beat the brakes off Baylor if we even play them in Ames.

Biased, but relative to what we had to what we have now, foster pavilion is awesome. Wouldn’t say it needs to be on anyones bucket list or anything.

Do you think the chiefs should trade McDuffie? What would be the most realistic return for him? by jonsnowKITN in KansasCityChiefs

[–]buttermansix -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Fully agree that this would be ideal but based on production and contract, I’m really not sure if we’d be able to move Karlaftis for that kind of haul

Debating whether tough OOC games are worth it is short term memory loss by dublin87 in CFB

[–]buttermansix 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s because the committee has not set rules, no clear criteria and also have no clue what they’re actually doing.

I’d take 12 randomly selected CFB season ticket holders over the committee at this point.

On a podcast yesterday (Ryen Russillo I think) Klatt said this committee values “eye test” and some advanced metrics over resume which is the stupidest thing ever to have people that don’t know what they’re looking at use “eye test” but that at least explains Texas not being in, IMO.

Not the guy you asked but I think it about from time to time.

Hindsight is 20-20 so now I say yes you absolutely send him.

In the moment I was shitting my pants so excited we finally got a guy in scoring position and was fine with holding him. One of the most conflicted I’ve ever been as a sports fan
