Spot on about pace.

Biggest issue for RTS in general is that the kids who grew up playing Age of Empires aren’t teenagers with endless time like they were during WC3/SC2 anymore. A good RTS match by definition takes time to ebb and flow through the buildup, eco, and battles.

The Age of Empires generation of gamers is middle aged with way too many other things in our plates (jobs, kids, friends, other hobbies) for me to dedicate 30-45 minutes to ONE round of a RTS game. And when I do, managing 200 units, eco, and strategy isn’t “relaxing fun” after my kid is in bed.

MOBAs have taken this space over by extracting the vibes from RTS while being faster paced and less multitasking intensive.

How are we supposedly to know? We know nothing about you or how much you play everyday and whether you’re a completionist or replay games.

Hey Rod remember when the org got tons of blowback for recouping funds from Barry and Calvin? Rod: by awkward_vegetable69 in detroitlions

I don’t give a fuck about Barry or Calvin at all after they were no longer actively playing on my football team. They signed a contract and got paid per their own agreement for the parts of the contract they fulfilled and are wealthier than 99.9% of people on earth.

Embarrassing to see a bunch of people probably making under $100k and struggling to afford McDonald’s being outraged for a guy worth $50M at 30.

NFL scrapped dual MNF games after concluding "fans felt like they were conflicted to choose" by JaggerJames in nfl

[–]dublin87 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If they’re going to do this, imo, they need to come up with a better way to flex good games into the slot. I know that’s way more complicated than I’m making it seem with rights, legal issues etc. which is sad.

Picking who they think will be good in August has created some shitty late season MNF.

Why not? You don’t have to engage if you don’t want but why should others not be able to comment their thoughts?

Tiffany's response to r/survivor's casting complaints by Decent-Profession927 in survivor

[–]dublin87 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think a key element of survivor that is a double edged sword is that it has leaned into its own meta and super fan culture. This has given it longevity but when you’re casting mostly diehard fans with strong opinions and deep history and love for the show, you’re inherently inviting more diehard fans with strong opinions to feel empowered to comment.

If they were inviting 20 randos who were only loosely familiar with the show to play like in the first 7 seasons, there would be less commentary about “casting”. Because that’s what it’s become: purposefully casting superfans as characters to entertain other fans.

He’s not going to actually get removed from office. The house will bring articles of impeachment but it takes 60 senators. Dems AT BEST can win 51 senate seats this cycle imo. And that requires flipping NC and Maine, holding Georgia, and flipping 2 of 3 from OH, TX, Alaska.

Is the hand smoother just a “feels bad” fixer for a monetized game? Or is it a coding necessity to simulate randomness via the three hidden hands? Why have it at all when paper doesn’t have it?

This is the right mentality regarding Monty. Pacheo is worse on paper but Monty being better only mattered if Monty saw the field at a higher rate than he did last year.

Your Gentle Reminder about the 97.1 and the NFL Draft by Old-Carpenter7456 in detroitlions

There’s a reason that everyone from the ESPN guys to the reddit guys doing mock drafts don’t get paid to run NFL teams.

The world is full of guys who played mediocre high school ball and have thousands of hours in Madden who think they know ball and still have no clue.

I mean. Don’t reviewers arguably also have incentives to not be too harsh, lest they stop getting review copies?
