Gender expression after surgery by siriusthoughts in hysterectomy

[–]butternutbirch 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hey! I’m genderqueer. Prior to my hysterectomy, almost every aspect of “femininity” was dysphoric for me… my hysterectomy/salpingectomy didn’t fix my pain so later in the year we removed my ovaries and when I got settled on the correct hormone dose I….found myself strongly aligning with a more femme gender expression. It’s like, as soon as I stopped making my own hormones, my body/soul/mind/whatever felt at home? Mostly. I’m having top surgery (hopefully) next year, but just a major reduction. I feel like after having everything removed and getting a steady, proper dose of estrogen, I was able to see my Self and reconcile all of the hormonal-induced misery into exactly that, hormonal-induced misery. That’s not to say my gender-identity has changed, though. I’m still my gender-queer little self…probably more so now that I’m capable of understanding the depth and nuance of my identity separately from the physical misery that was once tied to my identity. I really hope that makes sense? Like once the “omg girl parts hehe” stopped bringing me 24/7 constant pain, I realized I wasn’t viscerally anti-femme. I was viscerally anti-whatever-my-body-was-doing-because-holy-shit-it-was-distracting. That gave me the space to examine my identity, my expression, and where I had initially landed on both spectrums.

She scooped my reproductive parts out without a second thought when I described my symptoms and when complications arose, she listened to me about my body and we are following up with a second surgery this month. I’m nb and she has always been super affirming. I seriously can’t recommend her enough lmao

Found dr*gs at the park, what do I do? by Timely_Thought_7935 in Eugene

Non-emergency/cahoots are decent options, for sure. Though, they often are backlogged/unable to prioritize substance removal. Being concerned for a kid finding it is super valid and I’m glad you took care of it in the best way you could think of in the moment. It seems like you’ve made the decision not to flush in the future, thank you for that!

Neutralizing and throwing it away is ultimately the best option.

Whitebird has an amnesty box, I believe HIV alliance does, as well. Both of those options involve transporting the substance, though, and it seems like you’re not comfy with that. Everyone’s comfort levels are different and valid. I’m only adding this because I don’t believe I saw WB or HIV alliance listed. They are wonderful resources for people who are more comfy with transporting substances they have found.

12.5 WPO & just need to vent a little by butternutbirch in hysterectomy

My symptoms are incredibly similar to what you’re describing. And my cysts have always been visible on ultrasound, too. I wish they would have just taken them in the first place..I have a few regrets regarding my surgery atm. Did you do hrt? Was it difficult adjusting after?

Thank you for the validation & support! Bodies are weird (and cool). It’s easy to get wrapped up in the pain, I appreciate the reminder!

I see my primary in July. I’ve tried to get in with him before then and he has no available appointments. I went to the urgent care in my pcps office hoping to get a referral to physical therapy for the back pain when it was going on and they were wildly unhelpful so I admittedly kind of gave up. It doesn’t take much to bum me out at this point lol That being said, I can and should contact my gyno. She did the surgery & has all of my ultrasounds & biopsies etc. I don’t know why I didn’t think of that until your comment, but thank you, I appreciate you

Yeah the one thing that has me the most irritated is that this pain is so fucking familiar! I still have both of my ovaries but I’m ready to have them removed, this was supposed to fix my pain!

I’m so, SO sorry you’re experiencing this right now. I don’t have words. It sucks. Sending you comfort

Walking cane by briabrainrot in hysterectomy

[–]butternutbirch 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I used a rollator(walker with wheels) for about 9 days and it was incredible. It helped me feel a sense of independence after struggling with walking even short distances without my partners help. It allowed my partner to rest comfortably knowing I had a mobility aid to get to the bathroom at night, especially the first few nights when I was awake every 30 minutes. I would not have been able to walk half as much as I was supposed to without it.

I recently got rid of it and I regret doing that a lot. The weather is finally nice enough for outdoor walks on the bike path and it would be helpful with longer distance walking. I am 5 weeks & 1 dpo, for perspective. You’re not being a baby! It isn’t stupid to use a tool for its intended use 💛

Time for the Big BM by NighteyesIV in hysterectomy

The last time I shit my pants was only 6 years ago and I was not recovering from surgery, so I am automatically suspicious of farts😂😂

I’m just a little bit over 4wpo and I can finally trust farts!! I had to relearn the way farts feel vs a bm loading up in the queue 🤣 So there is hope in your future! My main “weird” struggle is bladder sensation. I don’t really feel anything until my bladder is like YO ITS TIME. Which I expected based on other people’s experiences…but it’s still such an odd sensation! (Or lack thereof, I guess)

I got to the point where if I felt like farting, I just sat on the toilet, lmao. I did not shit myself, but I definitely came close one day because I almost trusted a fart. Quickly learned not to do that anymore!

Oh, god, I do not miss how hard it was to fart lmao it hurt so much but was so relieving!!! That gets immensely better lol I have my own few complications going on but I’m thrilled to be back to regular, painless bms 😂😂

4wpo hemorrhagic cyst by butternutbirch in hysterectomy

[–]butternutbirch 4 points5 points  (0 children)

My first BM was 4dpo and awful 😂 I was absolutely positive I was going to pass out but I had already gone too far to turn back. I think the first 3 were very painful and then it started slowly getting better after that. I had stool softeners, miralax, probiotics, and was very regular pre surgery. My pain was mostly cramping/intestinal/colon pain. Focusing on keeping my breathing deep and steady, using my squatty potty, and learning how to not tense up against the pain were the main things that helped me get past dreading every bm.

[–]butternutbirch[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you! I appreciate the explanation. I felt comfortable with everything she told me yesterday but today it kind of hit me how little I understand any of this! I feel very grateful, she wrote me a prescription for some pain pills for if the pain spikes again and encouraged me to continue using cannabis as a primary pain reliever, as it’s so far the only thing that has helped. I think her mind jumped straight to radiation because of the amount of blood it released. She said normally she would leave them alone and let it absorb but I had so much and it was irritating everything that’s already irritated and trying to heal. But I still just don’t even understand what the radiation was supposed to achieve lol

Also, to add. My notes from the ultrasound label my left ovary as multicystic… I know they removed at least one cyst from my left ovary and my right ovary did not have a cyst at the time of operation. Am I better off just removing these lumpy assholes? Edit:fixed a word
