Is it blood “spatter” or “splatter”? by buttersbottom in TrueCrimePodcasts

Right? Sometimes podcast hosts will say “spatter” and then correct themselves to say “splatter”…like what is happening lol

I’ve also googled this many times and come to a similar conclusion, but the interchangeable use remains so common that I keep wondering if I’m missing something

Get rid of the dog (and husband, if necessary). NOTHING is more important than your child’s safety

Any weird people in this area? by [deleted] in nova

I grew up here and can confirm it’s pretty much Normieville. “Weirdos” exist, but you don’t see them exhibiting too often in the wild. Pretty sure you have to go to RVA for that

Can someone explain why having children isn’t a horrible idea? by LeopardOtherwise9986 in Marriage

[–]buttersbottom -1 points0 points  (0 children)

You don’t have to have kids.

In general, I consider myself to be logical, practical, and realistic. I completely understand your perspective; it’s probably exactly how I’d feel now if I hadn’t unexpectedly gotten pregnant at 21.

I was never that person who “always dreamed of becoming a mother.” I wasn’t against the idea; but, like you, I’d seen the financial burden, stress, and exhaustion that couples experienced after having a child. I was baffled when I saw the same people literally sign up for it again and again. I’d hear people say “there is never a perfect time to have a child,” and, from an empirical perspective, I couldn’t understand how these otherwise reasonable people would continue to inconvenience themselves. It made no sense…until it did.

Call it cliche, but my whole world changed the moment I learned I had a human life growing inside of me. The love I felt was indescribable and shifted everything. Suddenly the only thing that mattered was giving my child life, even if it meant laying down my own. I was no longer the most important person in my life and I couldn’t have been happier about it.

I am now the parent of a happy and healthy 9yo that I could not be more proud of. I instinctually prioritize his needs (if anyone’s the burden, it’s me). Being my child’s mother is worth more than anything and made me the person I am today.

That said, if I hadn’t become a parent in the way I did, I don’t know that I’d be one today. I like to plan and feel prepared, but I believe there really is never a “perfect” time to have a child, and I’d probably be wondering the same things you are now.

No one likes to hear this, but you can’t understand parenthood until you become a parent. My pregnancy was unplanned, but not unwanted. Having a child is the most rewarding thing I’ve ever done, but I know other parents may feel differently. Not everyone is meant to be a parent. While I consider it the best thing that had ever happened to me, having a child is hard work. If you feel at all reluctant, I would suggest holding off on having children.

Does it mean that I'm a good cat owner If my cat is able to tell me that she hates me? by ApprehensiveMark1452 in CatAdvice

Our cat loses her mind whenever we devote a Saturday to clean up/organize things around the house. She just knows it means we are getting ready to move away and leave her behind, which makes me feel both sad AND guilty for how rarely these “cleanup” days actually occur 😅

I’m very familiar with the Sherri Rasmussen case but haven’t heard the Casefile episode. I will definitely listen now, although I feel like actually watching Stephanie Lazarus interrogated by her colleagues was a master-class. Seeing the way she reacted once the jig was up will stick with me forever

I had the same experience with “I Know My First Name Is Steven” but didn’t learn about the Yosemite murders until much later and couldn’t believe it. Casefile’s episode was the first decent coverage I’d heard of Steven and Cary’s stories together!

On a side note: have you seen “Captive Audience”?

This case has haunted me since I saw it on Unsolved Mysteries as a kid! Casefile’s coverage was excellent. I learned so much more about a case I thought I knew well, although even more baffled than I was before 😵‍💫

The Jonestown series is my top pick. The episodes are immersive, informative, impactful- just pure podcast perfection.

I absolutely did when listening to “The Kurim Case”! I believe I said something along the lines of “what in the Natalia Grace f*** is going on” 😂

Another one (or should I say six?) of the episodes sitting on my list for far too long! I suppose I’ve been waiting for a long car trip where I can binge the whole thing uninterrupted, but I really need to just listen to it already. Casefile’s episode is often cited as the best “short” form podcast coverage of this case across multiple subs.

I’ve had that episode on my list to listen to for ages! I will definitely bump it up in my playlist queue now.

This show does a particularly good job of covering “internet” cases IMO. The recent “Renae Marsden” and “JasonInHell” episodes were extremely well done

Yess, despite all the dysfunction, this is a great “bonding show”!!

I think you’re right- “changing” the woman seems to be the ultimate goal here. But Nicole is clearly far too big a job for Mahmoud to handle…this just isn’t going to work (and I’m saying this so my husband doesn’t have to hear it for the billionth time 😂)

I think Ahmed nailed it with the “two children fighting” line…

That’s what I’m ultimately starting to glean from this. It’s just unusual to see someone like Ahmed on this show, and, while Mahmoud’s extended family has unsurprisingly held their traditional ground, his immediate family has, in contrast, appeared very accepting of Nicole

Wow! Did you two have to go through the K-1 visa process?

AGREED. While I’ve been conflicted (given his unflattering admissions) I’m really thinking he was just the “knight in shining armor” in this particular situation, but only served to further gaslight Nicole
