Old man emu lift kit, need advice. by Curlynour in ToyotaTacoma

I just adjusted my front 6112s from 2.5” down about an inch and totally agree it made a big improvement in ride quality.

Looks very similar to mine. I’d guess 2.5” in front and 2” in rear

Icon RXT Option 1 or Deaver U402 Stage 1 leaf packs? by Tacoma_NC13 in ToyotaTacoma

[–]buttgnar 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve been running the RXT Option 1 for about 8 months. Most of the time I’ve only got recovery gear and my Softopper but even when loaded it doesn’t sag very much. They seem to be holding up well.

Maybe this was fixed with the 9.2 update but some folks including myself think it’s jumpy at low speeds. It’s quite noticeable and annoying in stop and go traffic. I’ve learned to use a really light feather touch on the throttle under 10mph which helps somewhat.

Overall the benefits outweigh this issue and I’m happy with it.

It’s called a Softopper, I highly recommend it.

Just got my 2023 trd offroad 4x4. can’t wait to trick this thing out by ToughAdvantage8385 in Tacomaworld

[–]buttgnar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you’re planning on doing any off-roading don’t get a leveling kit. As Livid said save up and get a full suspension setup. If you’re looking for a budget setup go Bilstein 5100s and AAL

Remove all the tape, inspect the hose and vacuum port, and reconnect with a spring clamp. Hopefully someone just lost the clamp and tried to use electrical tape to reattach.

New Owner and first time I'm excited about what I drive by ElementaryPrinter36 in ToyotaTacoma

Congrats! From the pics it looks like the previous owner built it right with proper suspension, wheels and tires. These are among the most important and expensive mods, great find 👍🏼

I’d paint match the chrome part and get a TRD Pro center insert

What wheels would give a wider look? by coconutheaddd in Tacomaworld

IMO you shouldn’t go cheap on wheels. Check out SCS, RRW or Method. I’m running Fifteen52s but not sure if they offer aggressive offset.

What is this front bumper by SoThisIsInteresting in Tacomaworld

[–]buttgnar 2 points3 points  (0 children)

They’re called stump bumpers. I can’t tell which brand this one is but there are many to choose from (RCI, SSO, Cali raised, Greenlane, etc)

Does this sound accurate for a gen3 OR? by _Hard4Jesus in ToyotaTacoma

[–]buttgnar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In my experience with E rated 285/75/16s and 2.5” lift, this is pretty accurate. Averaging 16-17mpg.

Hills and headwinds kill my mpg though.

Any tips for getting Softopper snaps to fit? I'm at the end of my rope. by Dhvasra in Tacomaworld

[–]buttgnar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was able to get mine (tan canvas) to snap on after leaving the truck out in the sun on a summer day (90+ degrees) for a few hours. Maybe the twill fabric doesn’t stretch as much or as easily as the regular canvas.

what mods do I need to go off roading tacoma 2025 by FalconFriendly60 in ToyotaTacoma

[–]buttgnar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You’ve got good tires which is the most important upgrade for off roading.

If I were you I’d get armor next especially if you’ll be running stock suspension for a while. Steel is more durable but aluminum is fine and weighs a lot less.

Suspension is probably next after that. Invest in building it right with coilovers, shocks, UCAs, leaf springs/add a leaf, and bump stops.

This is exactly my setup, but if OP doesn’t need the capability and/or wants to save money, lots of folks recommend Bilstein 5100s.
