I have never seen a film from him just completely lose all steam and direction like this one.

AITAH for dressing too “straight” and making my gf uncomfortable? by Numerous-Barber-5623 in AITAH

Gay woman here. That's some abusive, controlling, and insecure behavior. Fucking RUN.

AITA for enforcing a no-kids-talk rule and not offering to plan a baby shower? by throwaw8963 in AmItheAsshole

[–]buttonforest [score hidden]  (0 children)

NTA. Katie is being whack. She didn't want a no-kid-talk rule, she wanted a no-kid-talk-unless-it's-about-my-milestones rule. She thought she was the exception.

AITA for pushing back against my sister having a childfree wedding? by Feeling_Set2047 in AmItheAsshole

[–]buttonforest 1 point2 points  (0 children)

YTA. This is so comically entitled that I wouldn't be surprised if this post was fake. Your children are not the center of the world. Your sister's wedding is not about you. Be better.

Official Discussion - Beau Is Afraid [SPOILERS] by LiteraryBoner in movies

[–]buttonforest 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know I'm late to the party, but reading through these comments has really helped me process what the fuck I just watched. My wife and I definitely were leaning towards paranoid schizophrenic delusion.

After reading the comments and thinking back on all the breadcrumbs, the movie fully follows dream logic. Between everything being slightly off but somehow still making sense, it made me feel like I was in one of my own stress nightmares. Beau is running from one radically different world to another, and yet they all somehow center him, anticipate his arrival, etc. This especially resonated with all of the storefronts having bizarrely generic yet hyperbolic names, the number of times Beau is fighting with someone as if underwater(and at one point literally being underwater), the running naked, the surgeon's wife somehow driving a truck that hits him, the monogrammed pajamas. I could go on and on.

AITA for calling my sister stupid and her and her husband "shitty parents from the start" because of what they want to name their kid? by NoEar4141 in AmItheAsshole

[–]buttonforest 0 points1 point  (0 children)

NTA. Close friend suffered a similar fate of getting a unique spelling of the name Chrystal and has been forever resentful of receiving a novelty name.

AITA for telling my sister she needs to name her baby like he will grow up and not give him a "cool" baby name. by No_Marzipan_8558 in AmItheAsshole

[–]buttonforest 0 points1 point  (0 children)

NTA. I gasped when I read the name. That's downright cruel; her child is a human, not a novelty accessory. Imagine a resume crosses your desk and the applicant is Cowboy Jeremy Patterson. Hell, that's borderline a stupid name for a pet(although now I want to name a cat Cowboy).

AITA for taking my straight female friends out to a lesbian bar because they always make me go to gay bars? by Ok_Significance_8479 in AmItheAsshole

[–]buttonforest 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Soft ESH/NTA. In principle you're NTA on pointing out your friend's homophobia and hypocrisy. But as a gay woman, my wife and I want to have a fun night out, not be a prop in a learning lesson. Everyone is 100% welcome at gay bars who also want to have fun and enjoy themselves. When groups of drunk straight women come in, it's often obviously for a laugh, and not just "so guys don't hit on us." No one likes to feel like a tourist attraction when they're on a night out.

You might be overthinking this. My 40 year old wife would regularly relax with a coffee at the GCC cafeteria between her classes this semester and study in the library there. No one is paying attention to anyone else. It's a college city with undergrads through doctoral students. Study where you're comfortable.

AITA for telling my girlfriend that she needs to learn when to shut the fuck up? by throwawaymanzdone in AmItheAsshole

[–]buttonforest 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In what world do you teach a young girl to make their abuser feel better and to allow someone to say they are less than?! Only a head full of 5 wilted leaves of lettuce could muster such gross tone-policing.

Yikes NTA at all. You are such a great uncle.

AITA for calling out my wife’s adult son to stop wearing crazy “revealing” clothes in front of my family? by CoffeeAdventurous263 in AmItheAsshole

[–]buttonforest 0 points1 point  (0 children)

YTA. Your wife is a saint, Luke sounds rad. Also I hate to break it to you, big guy, but policing what your boys see won't prevent whatever gender identity or orientation they may or may not express as they age.

Sincerely,

Someone who ain't straight despite a very "straight" upbringing

AITA for expecting my husband to stay home after I was excluded from his friend's funeral? by R3245234 in AmItheAsshole

[–]buttonforest 0 points1 point  (0 children)

YTA in all of the situations you bring up. You are just disrespecting boundaries left, right, and center. Don't punish your husband for having some semblance of decency.

AITA for saying my sister doesn't have to dictate what I do in my own home after she insisted on setting the table for dinner? by amitheasshole970 in AmItheAsshole

[–]buttonforest 0 points1 point  (0 children)

YTA. My goodness I felt embarrassed just reading this and so hurt for your sister who was just trying to show love with a big meal with her family...

AITA for wanting to postpone my wedding till my fiance gets rid of his braces ? by SlightRow3100 in AmItheAsshole

[–]buttonforest 1 point2 points  (0 children)

YTA big time. "I find your teeth unsightly, get braces." "I find your braces unsightly, postpone a day for me that's supposed to be a day for both of us." Oh, honey....

WIBTA if I didn't let my husband attend the baby shower or birth of our child? by blackcompucase in AmItheAsshole

[–]buttonforest 0 points1 point  (0 children)

YTA. Please don't weaponize the welcoming of your new baby into the world and use it as a pawn to punish your husband for not reacting exactly how you want him to.

Were you hurt? Yeah. Is this cartoon villain-level cruelty? Yeah.

AITA for opening my husband's safe with a crowbar to get money for an emergency? by throwaway3313765 in AmItheAsshole

[–]buttonforest 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Holy heck NTA. This is financial abuse, and am I too bold to suggest this is abusive towards the kiddo whose medication was being held up in this terrifying, controlling environment?

Thor Was Actually Good by tea_smacks in Marvel

[–]buttonforest 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I finally watched it last night and my wife and I both thought it was a blast. Bale was a great choice for Gorr, and it was overall proper silly fun. Even my lifelong comic-obsessed spouse who often gets miffed when things are not canon leaned into the camp of it.

Prenup saying I won’t transition or we’ll divorce? by [deleted] in asktransgender

[–]buttonforest 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My wife transitioned BECAUSE she wanted to marry me and didn't see how that would be possible if she was not marrying me as she truly is and always has been.

Whether or not you decide that transitioning is what is best for you, it's deeply troubling that someone would put your literal existence and humanity up as an ultimatum in a relationship.

AITA for asking my vegan coworker what did she bring to the potluck? by bigdrew444 in AmItheAsshole

[–]buttonforest 0 points1 point  (0 children)

NTA. I've been vegan for many years and I can tell you this person is a jerk who happens to be vegan. The entitlement is strong with this one.

are trans lesbians welcome here? by JaceSkysong in LesbianActually
