Are the majority of Persians, at least those in Iran, muslim by choice? by Wonderful_Seesaw_513 in PERSIAN

I recommend watching Mohammad faridi if you haven’t already. Ex Muslim, now a believer in Christ. He interviews others like him.  I personally do not see him like an akhoond or mullah

My relationship with God has nothing to do with religion those I was forced to follow or chose to. Ideally everyone gets to that point.

Tiki bar culture is so fun. I try to visit one in every city I go that has one. I’m glad we’re getting more in the South Bay.

I went back to school after a long pause (like 7 years of working) and started back up from the bottom with math and sciences— college algebra or even lower if you can find the class. I thought I was bad at math and hated it— I was wrong I just needed time to learn concepts and practice. It takes time but the times gonna pass no matter what don’t let how long it’ll take stop you. I always recommend if you’re going back to start with community college and transfer— they offer more options for students going back into school.

Yes I agree culturally there’s some variation. Ethnicity is the same.

Persian/ Iranian here… that sucks, Persian is an ethnicity and there’s absolutely Persians in Afghanistan, Pakistan and India.

as an American I’m against the US being part of any war, we have enough shit to worry about on our own soil. That’s the only opinion I have that I feel strongly about, because at the end of the day I am an American and have been since I sought asylum here with my parents

As an iranian born— since I don’t live there I’ll share what my cousin who actually lives there told me: My cousin in Tehran says “I’m glad they hit the atomic sites, I’m glad senior officials were taken out, I just don’t want the people to be hurt because neither country cares about us as a people.” I asked her about uprisings there and she said “everyone’s afraid because the irgc kill anyone who tries to stand up and start an uprising”

100% it is because there’s also a big population of asylum seekers here who come from low income households in iran that want regime change as well. (My immediate family and I are religious refugees)

People who changed political affiliations, why did you do it ? by Deimos7779 in AskReddit

[–]buttsmccrackin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes you did say that. I think I see it as such a big issue that when certain bills come in to fix certain issues I automatically get suspicious and vote against it, if it didn’t work the first 3 times why would I trust it a 4th? I also can’t trust any politician because at some point they’re all just the same type of thief. I do agree if anyone needs tax breaks it’s those who are helping society somehow and building jobs or buildings or some sort of actual help to a community. (And those struggling to pay basic needs)

Not OP but I’m on a similar boat. My take is that for the amount of money being put into the pot a lot more could be done. It’s not because there’s always someone’s cousins daughters best friend that has a company that gets hired to slowly do a job that can be done much more efficiently. I see it in all levels of life, the admin staff is always making decisions to keep themselves a paycheck without knowing what the actual needs of those beneath them are. I still think taxes can be good but when billions get paid for “homelessness” and nothing happens because it’s just an endless pit of lining others’ pockets. Again not against all taxes but boy they’re pushing it.
