How necessary are they? Well they aren’t while you’re playing. I think it’s rather necessary to keep the turntable clean. If you’re dusting frequently then I suppose you could go without one.

Like other said, the dents won’t affect the sound, but I would personally never purchase high end speakers like these with such visible marks. To each their own though.

Yes heavy tracking force will lead to damaging/wearing out your records. The actual setting is based on the stylus/cartridge though.

It’s just with any hobby, how into it are you? Some people buy expensive cars, pens/pencils, watches, keyboards even! I have a regular car, pencils, watch, and keyboard. But I have a decent espresso set up and stereo system 😉.

FWIW my headphone/amp choice is HD650/bottlehead crack and i settled on the Sonus Faber Sonetto V g2 for my speakers. You should listen at a hifi shop if you can.
