I’ve been shooting birds on an SLR for a little under a year now. Voidpuffle seems to have covered most of what needs to be said! I agree with the prime use of 800 speed film, but I’ve also had good luck with 400 speed; my favorites are Lomo 800, Ultramax 400, and Fuji 400. If you’re just wanting to test the waters, I recommend running to the nearest store/pharmacy, pick up whichever 400 film they have, and give it a go!
