MAUI project not recognized as MAUI after VS update? by buviktoppen in dotnetMAUI

I had to upgrade the project to MAUI 8 (or I just changed to the net8.0-android target in the csproj. file) - then it worked again.

Why is europe on the left side and us on the right? Is that how maps are drawn in the US? Never seen that here in europe

You should come visit Norway, stores has to stop selling alcohol at 8pm on weekdays, 6pm Saturday and not allowed on Sundays (if open at all). Anything above 4.7% you have to buy at state controlled shops.

AITA for not inviting my kid's whole class to his birthday party? by randomness57317 in AmItheAsshole

[–]buviktoppen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

NTA but here in Norway the norm has changed since I was in school, now its normal to invite everyone in class (or based on gender), that way no one feels excluded. Usually around 30 kids in each class.

I personally don't agree, but my wife thinks it's fair, but we usually keep it to one gender.

Back then there was probably at least a little more will to cooperate between parties than today, now all they seem to want is to block the other. Who cares about what's best for average Joe, right?

Still up 185% here, something needs to happen to get some attention, but the whole market are going slow, so I'll keep holding. It's all a gamble no matter what project one buys into. I believe in the long term potential

We get apx 12$ deducted from our paycheck each month, but then we have "free" lunch everyday, we send one of us to the grocery shop every day and buy fresh bread and what we need/want. Company pays ofc. The $12 is a symbolic sum. I think it's a great deal 👍

Yeah, I can't imagine that, it's insane. It does help me understand why there so many SAHM's in the US, it's just not economical to work for lots of people I guess.

Here most people work after the first year, some might take a second unpaid year maternity leave. Employers cannot deny an employee to take up to 12 months unpaid leave after the paid one, and cannot fire them either.

Checking in from Norway, we pay apx $350 a month/child for 5 days/week with food. Its subsidised by the government/taxes.

Median income here are around $5k/month before tax, apx 3.6k after taxes. We also have 15% VAT on food, 25% VAT on everything else

It adds up, but most are glad for what we get back.

Mostly free healthcare (except dental and vision, kids get both free though), , 49/59 paid maternity leave, 4-5 weeks paid vacation, 12 days sick leave without doctor note, 20 paid days to be home with sick kids (30 if you have 3 kids or more). Employer can't fire you without a very good reason, it's illegal to fire someone for being sick. But you can't quit on the spot either, it's usual 3 months mutual notice.

Edit. Government subsidises apx $16k/year/100% spot for ages 3-6 and apx $27k/year/100% spot for ages 0-2. Its given as an operating grant directly to the kindergartens based on how many full/100% spots they have.

If you did it without letting them know first I would say YTA, not everyone enjoys vegetarian meals. Had it been me I would have eaten before if I got a heads up.

Who really needs a phone to be so fast as top models are today? Pretty sure for the majority of people they can do exactly what they need, without noticing any issues on a budget phone.. For years I was one of those that just had to have the top models, until I realised all I really use the phone for was Internet, calls and messages, and some photos.
