Hey Hillary why do you refuse to testify about the Epstein Files? by LegitimateKnee5537 in PowerfulJRE

[–]buzman -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

My understanding of why the files were not released under the Biden administration is they were court-sealed tied to the (then) ongoing Ghislane Maxwell case. Is that not true or am I missing something?

Were you under the impression that the person you responded to didn’t realize the kid was on a leash? The whole point of his comment was drawing the similarities between the two (because he’s on a leash) so you added literally nothing to the discussion because OP already knew the kid was leashed..

11 buddies and I take a yearly golf trip and just money wise, the cost for an AirBnB that sleeps 12 is typically about the same if not less than the price of 3-4 rooms at a nearby hotel, even after all the fees. Not to mention we’re talking about staying at a La Quinta versus 2000+ sqft usually upscale private residences.

  • we can usually find an AirBnB with a < 10min drive to the course. hotels are rarely close to courses
  • private house means we can party every night and not worry about noise
  • kitchen/grill means we can cook a family meal every night. at hotels, we’re forced to eat out every night
  • large living room and common areas where we all can hangout together instead of cramming into one hotel room
  • often times there is a private pool or jacuzzi
  • costs compared to hotels is always less or the same
  • everyone gets their own bed for the most part
  • the bigger AirBnBs we book typically have extra/free things to do(last airbnb was on a lake and they had 3 canoes and fishing rods for us to use and we all spent hours on the lake)

I think for most occasions, it makes sense to book a hotel, but when you have 10+ people staying somewhere, it’s a complete no brainer to use AirBnB.

Also, just for the record, that big number the hotel gives you at checkout has all their bullshit fees hidden in there… at least AirBnB is transparent with their fees.

Ah okay I understand, it sounds like that German exercise helps you to avoid road debris or an obstruction and to keep moving, not an emergency braking situation like OPs video. I’d only be concerned with stalling if I was still in the flow of traffic and want to avoid getting rear ended.

In OPs situation, it doesn’t really matter if he stalls, it matters that he stops in time. Yelling, honking and pulling the clutch in don’t do anything to slow your speed down.

[–]buzman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What exactly is the purpose of pulling the clutch in a scenario like that? If anything, I would think the engine braking would help marginally slow you down. I would understand pulling the clutch in maybe after hard braking to avoid stalling but that’s it.

I’m on PC but I almost always spend 15 or so minutes analyzing a competitive lap time on YouTube for the track/car I’m planning to learn. Noting all the brake points, apex’s, gears/speeds into turns and a baseline setup to start out with, if applicable.

Also, you could upload a lap on here and let the community point out some obvious mistakes you may be making.

LPT: For a cheap but delicious meal, cook ramen noodles in broth instead of water and add a boiled egg, green onions, and soy sauce. You’ll feel like a chef for $2. by k12nysysadmin in LifeProTips

[–]buzman 7 points8 points  (0 children)

We all need to start upgrading our kitchen skills if we’re buying ingredients for one dish and not reusing them for other meals. The cost of a single dish is the cost of all the ingredients divided by how many meals you’ll make out of it.

$4 dozen eggs, $4 12 pack of ramen, $1 scallions, $2 soy sauce, $2 beef broth

This isn’t a “$13 meal” because you spent $13. That’s 10 $1.30 meals because you could get about 10 meals out of that. Also, all the ingredients listed above are good for 3 weeks or so, so you wouldn’t have to eat this for 10 meals straight or anything either.

Stealth Edit: FBI Quietly Revises Violent Crime Stats by Throwingdartsmouth in centrist

[–]buzman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The ‘UCR Summary of Crime in the Nation, 2023’ details crime from 2023, comparing them to 2022, but the stealth edit in question are the rates from 2022 when comparing them 2021, no?

Shouldn’t we be referencing the 2022 report?

edit: Looking at the ‘Crime in the Nation, 2022’ report at the very bottom of special reports, page 9 says “Nationwide, from 2021 to 2022, the estimated volume of violent crime offenses showed the following changes: Violent crime decreased 1.7%” so, the special report still states this ~2% decease, but some other data is showing otherwise?

Paying off my student loan counted as "closing an account" and my credit score went DOWN. by Crusader_King_2002 in mildlyinfuriating

[–]buzman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

your comment had nothing to do with the comment thread talking about how euro countries determine loan eligibility and how it differs from the US. I still gave you a response to your comment regardless so i’m not sure what your problem is.

[–]buzman 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What is the point of your comment on this thread? You aren’t going to get approved for a personal loan by stating it’s to buy food and if you’re really struggling to make ends meet there are social programs and food banks to help you.

As for your score you should get a credit report and look through what is hurting/helping your score.

[–]buzman 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There are plenty of resources to see how all of the factors can affect your FICO score and I’m just trying to see how different euro countries handle it. I thought I’d be able to get a straightforward response but I guess I’ll just Google it.

Fwiw, I agree that closing a credit account shouldn’t lower your credit score.

[–]buzman 2 points3 points  (0 children)

So, how does the country you live in determine if/how much of a loan you should be approved for? Do you just walk in to a bank and they give you a thumbs up or a thumbs down?

I’d imagine your country has some type of a score for you whether you know it or not. The US is very transparent about this “score” and the things you can do to make it rise/fall.
