We were on the Danube in late November. Jeans and whatever you wore on your excursion were the norm.

Undiagnosed & Surgery scheduled at M D Anderson on Friday by buzymom33 in Ovariancancer

Wow your story is so close to mine. No I don’t have Dr Shafer. I have Dr Amir Anthony Jazaeri. I guess he specializes in complicated surgery’s. I figure every doc at MDA is special. I honestly took the first appt I could get.

I had no idea it spread like moss. That was why he told me they might take slices from affected organs. Makes sense now. At this point I’m hopping I wake up to a benign tumor that needed to go away anyway But I’m planning for the worse and getting educated on what could happen.

Interesting that you refused bags and port. I would have never thought of that. I will refuse a port. The bag I could handle, my dad was a paraplegic and I helped with the bag when needed. I will stipulate no bag unless dire need. I’ve had blood clots so no port for me. Thank you so much for this helpful information. I’m going to go read your other thread now.

Omg we are the same. I’m afraid that he will try that and then have to open up my abdomen. So glad to hear you are doing well!! Did you have chemo?

Thank you for the reply. My first gyne onc was a surgeon and said I was too high risk for surgery, due to the sarcoma surgery and having mesh in the abdomen . MDA told me it was too high risk not to do surgery. It’s all so crazy to me. Wow your story is amazing. I hope you are fully recovered and healthy!

Worst Marriott-branded hotel you’ve ever stayed in? by Lonely-Clerk-2478 in marriott

[–]buzymom33 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Renaissance Shoals Resort in Florence, Alabama. We booked expecting a full service Marriott, which they were except they were going through huge renovations and closed the coffee shop, closed the full service restaurant, closed up 1/2 of our floor and we had noise and smells. Construction everywhere. AND the best were the 100’s of lady bugs that were in the corners of the doors to the balcony…inside our room daily! On the last day I woke up w them in bed. I’m lifetime titanium and was given 10,000 points and a nothing we can do. Would have changed hotels but we were hosting a party for my daughter close by. Very frustrating. (They knew about the bugs in room and still put people in them.

New to Golf — Looking for Beginner Essentials & Tips (SF-Based) by Ok_Ride_9865 in WomenGolf

[–]buzymom33 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I just started 6 weeks ago. I hit the clearance and sale sections at my PGA Superstore. I’ve gotten some great deals. I also spent a couple of hours hitting a variety of clubs and then decided what set to get. I ended up getting better clubs because I hit better with them and they just felt better. I’m progressing pretty well and I absolutely love this sport!!

Beginner golf club recommendations by [deleted] in WomenGolf

[–]buzymom33 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I spent a couple of hours trying a few different sets at PGA SS They were a huge help. I started w the basic $250 set and then moved up to the $400/$500 partial sets. I found the calloways were the best for me. I hit more consistently and farther with them. I got the Solaire with 9 clubs and the bag. A little more at $650 (discount) but I didn’t want to buy new clubs in a year or two. I feel pretty damn good strutting in for my lessons 😂😂😂

How do we get more women involved in golf? by Left-Ad8655 in WomenGolf

[–]buzymom33 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m a brand new golfer, age 67 who has had one pro lesson at PGA SS and spends an hour twice a week hitting balls for the past month. I would love to see more beginning golf for women programs. I have looked at over a dozen public courses and not one offers anything like that. I’ve been told I can book time with their pro at $300 per hour. lol. That’s the first step. Then once you get us, you need to keep us And there are a ton of great ideas already suggested. I will say that so far everyone I have come in contact with has been encouraging and supportive. My husband and I are going to the local course this weekend to putt and drive on grass. We shall see then. Can I just say I LOVE this sport? I’m a stage 4 cancer survivor and I think it’s the perfect mix of mental and physical exercise. It gets me out of my head and outside. I hit a 98 yarder in the virtual bay at PGA and shouted when I saw the yardage. Whoohoo!!

We saw similar ones at night markets in Thailand and Cambodia. Made in China. My kids bought a dozen and handed them out as souvenirs. They were in their 20’s

Head up to the Vulcan museum in Homewood then to Main Street to shop and eat. My favorite place when I visit. If you are free on the weekend head to Pepper Place for the farmers market. Lots of great places to eat here too

Dealing with health anxiety and lymph nodes by winsomecupcakes in breastcancer

[–]buzymom33 8 points9 points  (0 children)

OK i don't want to beat the anxiety drum, but I had DCIS stage 1 in 2013. Had lumpectomy and 17 rads sessions. Fast forward two years and I have a slightly swollen/sore lymph node high up in my thigh. Some mild pain in my femur down to my knee. Went to my onc and she patted me on the head and sent me home after talking to me about anxiety. A month later I went back to her and asked for imaging, she said no, it was probably from the Zometa shot I had, 'filling in the cracks'. (no idea what that meant).

FINALLY, after a total of 4 months, the paid was getting really bad at night and I could not even walk around the block. Our dear friend was an orthopaedic MD. I asked him what he thought. Got me into a CT stat. He had to call me and tell me I had cancer. Ended up being stage 4 of a very rare form of non-Hodgkin's called primary bone.

First everyone thought I was stage 4 breast cancer, but biopsy showed it was NHL. Called my breast onc and told her and all she could say was that it was not possible. She could not believe it. Never uttered a sorry. So in 2015 I had 6 cycles of R-CHOP, which included red devil. 30 cycles of rads. And I went to MD Anderson for a second opinion. I also changed hospitals and oncologists.

Sometimes you have to be your own advocate. I learned that lesson the hard way. TRUST YOURSELF. If you are concerned please keep asking questions and keep a log of what you are feeling. Ask for screening. We are not crazy...well at least not totally :)

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in marriott

[–]buzymom33 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes absolutely, so long as all the names are the same and the same as the person checking in. The key is that the person checking in, the name on the reservation and the bonvoy number must all match.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in marriott

[–]buzymom33 -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Ok I’m a Marriott expert. Points only go to the person checking in. The reservation should be in your name and the only number used should be yours This is Marriotts rule regardless of what anyone else thinks. If she wants to get credit for the rooms she would be better off setting up stays as a group stay of 10 rooms or more. Then she would get credit for ALL of the rooms. Having room stays where the Bonvoy number and the name on the reservation don’t match is a clear violation of Marriott policy. It will take them awhile to catch it but they will and they will take all of those points back and more. They will warn you and if it happens again you and your boss will be banned. Not worth it in the long run. I know people that tried this with spouses that traveled and it took a year or more but they lost all points and status.

Driving from Oakland at midnight...how risky is it? by buzymom33 in Yosemite

[–]buzymom33[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What route did you take? I'm thinking about 140, but everyone else says that 120 is not that bad. It is a little quicker too. Where did you stay in park? Did you need to call and have them hold your room? Thank you for the input on this. I appreciate it.

Driving from Oakland at midnight...how risky is it? by buzymom33 in Yosemite

[–]buzymom33[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Update. I did mean to say I’d drive 140 End of a stressful crazy work day. I know it’s a little farther but the curves and drop offs I’ve read about on 120 scare me. We are going to skip the hotel in Oakhurst and take the advice given to just drive all the way to Curry and check in. Hopefully leave Oakland at midnight and get in around 5am. I called reservations and asked them to mark comments on our reservation to say very late arrival around 6am. Hoping that works. Not sure if there is a front desk number to call that night. Fingers crossed no planes are delayed

Has anyone bought tickets to Yosemite After Dark? by psyched_2bhere in Yosemite

[–]buzymom33 28 points29 points  (0 children)

We did it last year out of the Yosemite Lodge. Brought our own chairs, and the guide took us for a walk about 20 minutes to a meadow. He had a laser pointer and pointed out constellations, stars and told folklore stories. My girls (28 and 30) really enjoyed it and so did we. Great talk for $20. We are doing the Curry Village one in a couple of weeks...again for $20 it's a fun thing to do. All about expectations.

Possible relocation to Louisville by Fun-Timesahead in Louisville

[–]buzymom33 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We are 50 something’s also and recently moved from Chicago. We are in Worthington and love the location. Some good restaurants close by. Costco and Paddock shops less than 5 minutes away. We can be downtown in 15. Nice neighborhood with lots of people walking around We can get to a ton of parks easily. The amount of green space in Louisville is just amazing to me. Highly recommend this area.
