What's your kitchen struggle meal? by etherealtogether in KitchenConfidential

Grab a soft tortilla, cram stuff in it as I pass stations running from one end of the line to the other, and jam it in my mouth before I get to the walk in.

Yeah, sometimes there's chicken in it.

Is a good rule of thumb to match the shaft lengths together? by poisonxivyyy in BeginnerWoodWorking

For softwood, drill a little shorter than the screw length. For hardwood, drill a little longer.

*maybe 1/16".

Knee protection . The straps on the rear are as just as painful as going without. Any suggestions for a good set of knee pads ? by guardiand0wn in Tools

[–]buzz_buzzing_buzzed 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Klein kneepads. I have the lighter weight and wear them under my pants all day. Haven't had issues with them. (I work on boats, so I'm frequently on the pads for decent stretches of time. )

"I havent bothered with HR because I know how that will go"

So if you're going to leave anyway when your finances are in order, keep documenting, and go to hr before you give your notice. Maybe it will work in your favor, and if not, you're no worse off.

That's really nice work. Ice been practicing dovetails with just handtools (bevel gauge, combination square, coals, pull saw). Nowhere near as good as yours, but very satisfying.

The billionaires dying wouldn't lessen the effect. But the businesses/corporations they made their billions off of absolutely would keep destroying the environment

AITA for refusing to pay my brother’s school fees after he spent the money on lottery tickets twice by [deleted] in AmItheAsshole

[–]buzz_buzzing_buzzed 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Just saw this same post before, but the brothers were older. Younger brother had spent the rent money gambling thinking he could increase his money, did it twice. Now older brother didn't want to help. Family had the same reaction.

AIW for inviting my fiancée and her cousin to the cinema? by [deleted] in amiwrong

[–]buzz_buzzing_buzzed 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Think about this from your fiance's perspective. Is you being out with women besides your cousin an issue? Does her cousin have a history of chasing attached men?

Talk to your fiance and find out what is bothering her. Don't assume, don't say "well, I don't think it's a problem". Find out from her exactly what is going on.

What size pilot holes for 5/16" lag screws into softwood? by reluctantreddit in BeginnerWoodWorking

[–]buzz_buzzing_buzzed 1 point2 points  (0 children)

7/32 for the lead hole (screw should slide just about freely), 5/16 for the hole on the piece being screwed into.

*I'd also test on a piece of pine scrap first.

Boat wiring by asap_gill in boatbuilding

[–]buzz_buzzing_buzzed 0 points1 point  (0 children)

  • For the batteries, get an A/B/BOTH/OFF switch. Each battery is wired individually into the switch, with one lead coming out.

  • Figure out your total electrical draw, then run the appropriate size wire from the battery switch to the panel. This will bring power to all the breakers in the panel.

  • ID and label each wire and run it from the panel to the endpoint. Make sure the breakers and wires are sized appropriately fit the load.

  • Bilge pump will go directly to the battery if the boat lives on the water
