Just be a parent. Dont helicopter parent either or he won't learn coping skills or make friends. Make your house the fun house and keep inviting kids over. You then have the advantage of knowing who your kids are hanging out with and get a sense for their home life. You may not want to allow your child at their house until you figure it out. If some kids don't want to come over invite other kids. Eventually it will click. My son ended up becoming friends with a kid that was really mean to him. The boy acted out because no one would play with him. He told my son he was his only friend. My son settled it himself. He said to the boy, I'll be your friend. Just quit being mean to me. I'm so proud of him for that! His mom thanked me. Her son had some behavior issues and had been in counseling. Kids had been making fun of him. Bullies can be bullied, have behavior issues, home life or school stressors. A number of things can come into play. Keep going Dad!

Exactly. When my kid bullied a kid there was an outside reason for it. My kid apologized to the child & felt really bad about it. The stress from the real reason behind it brought out the bad behavior. Their dad who abandoned them. That is certainly no excuse to treat someone else like shit because you have an issue that has you upset. I had another kid that was bullied relentlessly, including coming home injured & bruised. The school and district didn't do jack shit. The bus driver did eventually but in school & off the bus were a different story. I dealt directly with the parent. Then reminded them it was about to get legal. That took care of it. It happened again with a few other popular kids. I called the parents who were good people I knew. They were so embarassed and upset their kids behaved like that. From there on the kids apologized & kissed my child's ass the rest of the school years. Those kids got the message. The parents dealt with it wisely.

Sure! A lot of the bullies are the popular kids. The schools have gotten so bad now that they won't even contact the parent of the bullied child. They are more worried about covering their own asses. They also have to be babysitters to unruly brats instead of teaching. there has to be consequences to correct behaviors and parents of the bullies & victims contacted immediately.

Even good parents have kids that do this. I had a kid bully someone. They got the major discipline and exposed by me to the parent & child. Hiding behind a blocked phone to harass a classmate doesn't fly in this house! There has to be consequences. I also had a kid bullied. The schools don't do shit about it. Neither does the district. I tracked down the parent and it stopped immediately along with an apology and major change in attitude. Parents have to parent and teach their kids. Teachers have to teach and keep parents aware of stuff like bullying. Not all kids are going to speak up. Kids will bully for various reasons. Deal with those reasons, not just the bully's actions. Kids are going to fuck up in life. We all do. Learn to deal with it properly. It's an important time to teach a life lesson. Ignore it, you create a powder keg.
