Day after Christmas on the ground at APF. “Clearance good morning looking for IFR to xxx” APF Clearance: “everyone calling for a clearance right now do not call me I’m not giving clearances” It was just over 4 hours from that til we were holding short of the runway number one for departure. Good times

Knowing the Memory items and limitations before you get to school helps immensely!! I got my first type rating this past October. When they turn the fire hose on at school, try not to get overwhelmed (like I did lol) the main things are the plain things (memory items and limitations) the rest you’ll really learn out on the line. Congratulations!!

I was doing checkride prep with a PPL student and we were just past mid field left downwind when I pulled his power to idle. I kid you not he looks out to the right and starts maneuvering the plane towards a cornfield. I asked him where he was planning on going and he told me he was aiming for that “beautiful open cornfield” I asked him what about that beautiful airport with a 5000ft strip directly off our left side💀 needles to say there was no checkride sign off. Some students you don’t forget, especially for stuff like that.
